They just said on Tim and Friends that the ask from Cleveland for Ramirez was Manoah and Moreno.

So awesome. Now go get Ramirez and another reliever.

I’m so hyped for the season.

At this point, we play vulture.

If Cincy wants to shed Votto's contract, we take it (because it could be free or cheaper).

If a Ramirez or Marte suddenly becomes available, we'll be there.

If the price on Kenley is something we're comfortable with, swoop!

Keep in mind that short term deals could be good for us for remaining FA because we know we can afford them now and might be able to again if things go to plan (huge attendance numbers could drive another payroll increase).

If Freeman needs a safety net, I would never say no to one or two years at a higher AAV.

Cleveland can f*** right off...
Of course, the ask is high. You’re asking a team to part with a MVP-calibre player. You also have to remember that just because a team is asking for something, that doesn’t mean they won’t settle for less. Personally, I think the Jays would be fine if they hold onto, say, two of their top four prospects. I’d offer something like Moreno, Biggio, Pearson, and another lower prospect.

Who’s the backup CF if Grichuk and his money is moved?

Smith? Or is Davis still around?
Smith and Teo are both better options than Grichuk.

Also Grichuk isn't going to be given away. He's one of the guys (and will only move if the deal makes us better).

I’ve see no talk about Cincinnati moving Votto. Is it possible that he has simply told the Reds that he do3sn’t want to go anywhere? He’s a 10-and-5 player and can veto any deal.

Speculation because they are cutting payroll coupled with Votto saying he wouldn't ask for a trade (but not saying that he would block a trade)

Carlos Baerga said the Jays and Cleveland agreed to a trade at deadline in July for Jose Ramirez and 5 minutes before the deadline, Cleveland backed out.

Also says the Jays are going after Freeman hard. And Freeman told friends he wants to play for Toronto but Freddie is asking for too much money.

Also thought Rosario would be a perfect fit. But signed with Atlanta.

Says they asked Vladdy if he is ok playing 3B if they sign Freeman and Vladdy responded “I am a third baseman.”

Starts at the 2:00 minute mark

One HUGE thing about a possible Votto acquisition

He faced lefty specialists more than 25% of the time because Castellon and India are almost perfectly even against RH and LH and Winkler has extreme platoon splits.

Do you really want to bring in your lefty if he's stuck in the game against Teo and Chapman who absolutely demolish lefties?

Okay so they want Freddie still. Cool.

...where do they put him?

As if it matters because the world series has already been won by the Reds after it was announced they're talking to Johhny Cueto.

...oh it's not 2013 anymore?

I noticed that I can't reply to the most recent post in any thread.

I realize Ramirez is really good but Manoah AND Moreno would be colossal overpayment and I am crazy high on both of them. The Chapman acquisition is huge but at this point you can probably get away with getting another reliever and calling it a night. Team is stacked right now. Great rotation, good hitting and with another decent reliever, good overall bullpen.
