Mmmm A guy with a Karlsson avatar show a gif showing another Swede, OEL, making a good defensive play. Is that so our subconscious will connect Karlsson with good defensive plays?

Oliver Ekman-Larsson is a 5-year NHL pro who is only 23 years old.

His best years are ahead of him.

A staggering thought.

A superstar in the making in the Arizona desert.

That was pretty cool, how often do defenders do that and not take out the guys legs?

How is this thread worthy? Nothing sweet about this play.... it happens almost every week.

Someone needs to start making those overedited xx360xxnoscopexx videos of boring defensive plays like dumping the puck out of the zone :biglaugh:

I think that it is, he does an sweet poke without tripping him. And for the record I don't really see the problem with one or two extra highlight clips. We don't get to see tons of defensive plays in threads like these, mostly goals and hits.

Love plays like this (and beautiful assists) almost as much as I love your standard goal of the week. It's amazing how hard it is to get some fans to appreciate anything other than a toe drag or a nice goal.

Letang has done a few of those in his career actually. It happens when his shot is blocked and then he´s recovering like crazy, which is quite often. This one was beautifully executed, though. 10/10.

Props to Lewis for not intentionally tripping and getting a penalty shot. I feel like 75% of these types of plays end up being penalty shots because the breakaway player trips over the d-man's stick.
