I'd love to see the Duke really put on a show tonight and have a strong game. Give a nice look at what the future will bring. Go get em Kid!

Have to say Nash has been damn impressive. Excellent puck pursuit and effort all the way round.

Glass and Prust have fought three times before. The folks over at Hockey Fights gave Prust the win in two of them and it was a draw in the other. The last time was 3 years ago. IMO Glass is a better fighter now than he was then. Glass is a better skater than Prust. Prust is a somewhat better hockey player overall. Anyway if it comes down to it-Glass is very capable (win, lose or draw) of giving Prust a really good go--all their previous fights were eventful and slugged out and both players were pooped at the end. And yeah I'd be wary of Prust after that headshot he delivered to Stepan. He's not a guy that forgets. So Glass should be in the lineup.

By the way I'm happy to see Duclair back in the lineup. Hopefully he gets a goal.

I still hate this team so much.

It's weird. It was such a fun city to go to school in, and when I was there, the Canadiens were not great and tickets were at least reasonably accessible (now? forget about it).

When the Rangers came to town, they would always win. When I moved back to NYC, that all changed.

Wait malone out Duclair in and Stempniak on fourth line??? Who saw that coming ;)

AV is getting closer

I mean he did say it would take him 15 to 20 games lol

Get the RW's in their proper positions and I'll be happy still don't like that brassard line with MSL on it should be Kreider or Duke but he's def getting closer

All the Glass hatred reminds me of the faulty Brian Boyle hatred the last couple of seasons. Glass is doing fine at his job. He leads the team in hits by a large margin, kills penalties well, forechecks well, works the boards, provides toughness on a team severely lacking toughness and has only taken 2 minor penalties in 7 games. He isn't here to provide offense.

Difference: Brian Boyle hate was unjustified.

Only one year of his NYR career was the Boyle hate justified.

He's been a very solid player every other year.

There was never a year in his NHL career where Glass was useful.

And Glass is still playing because???

Because Malone is awful and probably the slowest skater in the NHL, Montreal is a fast team.

When Step gets back, hopefully both are out of the lineup. Replace both with guys who can skate and play.

Then please justify, for me, the Tanner Glass hate. I posted my thoughts on why I feel he's doing his job on the 4th line just fine.

Glass can't hold a candle to Malone. Malone has scored more goals in one NHL season than Glass has in his career. Malone may be slow but he has a better hockey sense and much better hockey IQ than Glass.

I will deal with him being a slow skater because he is so much better than Glass in every other facet of hockey that means something.

You know, i was thinking that a 4th line of:

Duclair - Moore - Stempniak

May actually work. But didn't post it for fear of the onslaught of flaming.

Two hard working responsible veterans couldn't hurt him. Chicago had young offensive guys playing lower lines.

It's quite interesting, really, how much you hate Malone despite the fact that he's been pretty good for the Rangers thus far.

Even more interesting, for my fancystats bros, is that Malone's 5v5 corsi is tops on the team, and Glass' is at the bottom.

Strange, strange, strange.

Chart below is 5v5 (otherwise Malone's OZ start % is inflated due to PP time)

Also incredible looking at this chart that Rick Nash is having the season he is so far :amazed:

Malone over his career isn't even a debate, i agree. But im just answering the question: "Why Glass amd not Malone?".

Montreal is FAST. Malone is so slow that the delay in his forecheck could make a big difference between sustained pressure and Montreal retrieving and transitioning.

I don't want either one in the lineup, but, since both are bad, id put the faster skater in for tonight. We must upgrade both.

OK, great. And fancy stats say that Klein is awful. And he is far from it.

Thats the problem with fancy stats. They aren't the whole picture. Malone is so god forsaken slow that it is a major iasue for a team that wants to play a speed game. He and Glass drag Moore down.

Malone gets a very sheltered role. Show me where he takes his faceoffs. His average TOI at even strength. He is mostly a PP specialist.

Here's the thing. You say he's slow (he is, duh), but you say it's a detriment to the team's possession when that is not the case.

We have enough PKers on this team where if the lineup decision comes down to Malone v. Glass, I am of the party that believes it should be Malone every time.

That's all.

Or, I could not waste my time and you could use the search function since the Tanner Glass hate has been justified on this board since his signing.

Guys/gals, you can't reference other team's boards on here. For the protection of your jimmies, it'd probably be best to just avoid them on game days anyway.

For real. I used to go to team rivals boards (Isles, Devils) before games and all it does is force you into responding to the hateful nonsense. It's better for the blood pressure to stay away.
