Since we've already looked at the best rookie defencemen and best rookie goaltenders in the NHL this year, we would be remiss if we didn't bother addressing the forwards, particularly considering this year's rookie crop is the biggest and best rookie crop of forwards ever.

We're all aware, almost painfully so, of marquee names like Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin. Not to diminish their greatness, because they are special, but there is a whole group of freshman forwards making an impact in the NHL and some of them are just outside the glare of the spotlight.

To address that, if only a little, here's a look at the Top 40 Rookie Forwards in the NHL this year:

Saw this yesterday, I think Jussi Jokinen is way too low. Nice to see the Flyers with #'s 8, 10, and 20. Umberger sure looks like a nice signing. :handclap:
