McCarron comes in for toughness.

Tomasino goes out to make room. Not ideal personally but much of the team has been lackluster and Tomasino isnt getting puck on net (2 which is the least of all forwards that have played a game).

Aktell missed a lot of time with injury IIRC and so the preds never signed him. As I recall he's more of a defensive Dman, yes?

Actually one of the better descriptions I’ve read of this phenomenon.
Yeah, the question is how much is luck/randomness/game of inches (ROR lasering one off the post last game jumps to mind) and how much is poor finishing skill? The high xG speaks well (in a small sample size) to Brunette's system potentially helping the offense create chances. But we knew coming into this year that this team isn't full of snipers. Preds are a textbook candidate to underperform a metric like expected goals. I guess the hope is that the current gulf isn't sustainable.. and that the xG number itself doesn't regress with a higher sample. Or to put it a less nerdy way, can this team actually consistently create chances the way they have been?

Near where sand and waves meet.

Using Naturalstattrick's numbers this season's xgf/60 isn't that much higher than last season's but that would require our broadcast team to learn comparisons.

Also did not realize Blake Wheeler was on the Rangers now. Guess I didn’t pay much attention to the free agent frenzy around the league this summer.

In all situations it's 4.1 this year vs. 3.0 last year. That's a pretty huge difference but again a very small sample size to go off this season.

2.9 v 2.6 at 5on5 where the bulk of the game is played ... what skews it is the PP where somehow our 2 for (now) 18 man advantage somehow has an xgf/60 over 9.
I do tend to look at all situations since they all count the same but there's definitely a point to be made there considering you can only score an actual goal once per 2min PP

I was on a call and missed it but saw reports that Glass left the game. Anyone know what happened?
