Probably the executive could do it, barring that an general meeting on the players. The problem is they would have to buy out his contract ($9m-$12m left IIRC). Not a bad golden handshake.

Going off memory, it was $3m/y for 6 years. Signed a few years back with the CBA in mind. I think he's the highest paid union boss ever, at least of the pro sports.

Bettman gets something similar.

When he came in there were getting 300s and he got them up to $1.8m. He's made them billions more than he'll lose them this year. He's earned his money. He just doesn't know when to cut his losses and run.
