Don't really think it's about coaching dude. This game was all about our lack of effort and execution.
And while we had this lack of effort and execution going our coach was laying behind the bench rocking in a hammock, sipping on a margarita. How about showing a pulse and start lighting a fire under their asses

I'm so f***ing sick of every team being able to find tretiak in the playoffs.
This team just doesn't have shooters. Instead of mitigating that by playing a style more conducive to scoring by committee, i.e. going to the net; shooting for rebounds; creating traffic; etc., they are shocked when they continue to water-bug on the perimeter and can't generate anything.

Or they will shit the bed just like they did against Vegas
Did they shit the bed or did we just get beat by the legit best team in the League that year. Vancouver ain’t close to that. We’ll take em out with 2 Ws in a row. I know you won’t believe, but believeeeeeeeeee

Yeh Ekholm was slow to respond to plays tonight. And that can definitely affect Bouch too. But man… Bouch seems to have an issue with reading his press clippings. Young player that gets too high on himself and starts letting the details in his game go away.
Bouchard was so bad with his puck management.
Just awful..

Canuck hunting
Or it can happen in elimination too. Big games call for big moments. If anyone can come up big it’s McD. And with help from his buddy Drai.

That said, agreed that he wasn’t good tonight. But this ain’t the player we know.
The player we know has been off all season. Now playoffs.

Its one thing to lose series to eventual SC winner caliber clubs. Losing to the Nucks is on the scale of losing to the Flames. Thats how bad McD has been in all but one game of this series. He's not making an iota of difference and is the best player in the world being outplayed by JT Miller. I don't know how he even allows that.

We spent a lot of time playing in our end.
Too bad we didn’t know what to do.
Kudos to Pickard for playing hard and keeping us in.

All I remember is losing on a Skinner pop-fly that he did to himself.

Not sure why people are shocked about McDavid, he looked the same tonight as he looked the majority of the season. Was hoping he'd have another gear for the playoffs, but he has looked pedestrian for quite a while.
I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up getting surgery when the season ends. It's not just the dynamic skating that's taken a hit in his game, he's basically stopped shooting, isn't anywhere nearly as tenacious in puck battles, and went from being the toughest player in the NHL when driving to the net to rarely even making the attempt. He looks like a powerplay specialist most nights, which is a far cry from what he was just a year ago.

He didn't just decline and become a completely different player overnight, so something long term and serious is probably the cause.

This was the first legitimately bad game by our top guys and sadly, 1/5 bad = 3/5 lost in this series.
McDavid has 1 point in the last 3 games down the stretch. Look at Draisaitl last year against Vegas. 4 goals game 1 then torched down the stretch. This isn’t the regular season. You need to get better as it goes deep not worse.

Everyone has a set of tools to work with. What could he have done differently? It's Holland that built this team. Knoblauch was an assistant for the Flyers at one point so he's not a raw rookie.
Agreed--there are some serious holes and it was Holland's job to fill them. Anyway, he's catching the Last Train for Columbus so hopefully the Oil can hire someone who isn't buddies with the alumni.

Yeh the warts in his game were back in full force tonight. We know he can play a game where he can minimize and get those out of his game. So just gotta hope that this loss kicks him in the ass a bit and gets him humble and ready to play solid in games 6 AND 7.

Ahahahaha. They got beat 5-2 and McDrai had a total of 1 point and lost it at home.

I would believe if they gave me something to believe in. This team that EVEN if they beat the Canucks in 2 straight. They have less than 0 chance of winning 8 more games.
It’s not a cup year, and it’s time for real change.

I always like your posts.

Canucks have owned us on faceoffs all series.

But I do think we see the Oilers best game Saturday.
Game 7 could go either way.
I'll take your optimism! Thanks! This team is resilient. This game hurt with such a collectively bad effort. Gut check time. Have to start winning games in the face-off dot to assert their game.

Bouchard made a bad play, no doubt. You know every elite dman in the league has made a bad play leading to a goal against in the playoffs right? Every. Single. One. But sure, base you whole bias on one play. McDavid pulled a disappearing act in a crucial game. He single-handily killed power plays himself by forcing passes and not f’n shooting. He also blew his coverage on Miller. Hyman killed all plays. McLeod hasn’t been on he ice for a EV strength goal against- his defence has been great, but no offence. He looked much better with Ryan on his line, maybe it’s play killer Perry?

Knoblauch is the biggest culprit. Perry still playing. Playing McDrai ridiculous mins has caught up to them.giving away 3 games because he didn’t want to go away from Skinner.
I don't even disagree on most of your points -- except Bouchard will have these stupid efforts more than most elite D. From the offensive zone in, he's pretty amazing at times but it's this kind of lackadaisical BS and wobbly defending that will never be erased from his game. But of course, now they (whatever clown the OBC decides to sweep into the GM's seat) will pay him like a no. 1 D and further hamstring their shitty cap management.

We'll agree to disagree on that. I don't see this lineup going past Vancouver because, quite frankly, Vancouver is playing like they want it more. Not like the pretenders in our room.

He has run Bouchard, McDavid and Draisaitl ragged. That’s a choice.
That's fair. I will say though they had a decent break between the first and second round and I think he overextended them twice in this series. Am I wrong? Additionally, there was nothing from our depth. We'd probably be eliminated by now if he didn't do that.
