Not so long ago, it seemed that Norfolk would inevitably fold or relocate. But evidently they plan to carry on. Or at least they've bought themselves three more years of meager survival.
The Norfolk Admirals signed a new lease agreement with the City of Norfolk as well as a new agreement with the ECHL, the team announced on Monday afternoon.

Both agreements run for three years and will keep the Admirals, as members of the ECHL, playing at Scope Arena through the 2020-2021 season.

That is really good news, its always awesome when ownership and city leaders can make things work. This allows team management to hopefully "right the ship", maybe secure an affiliation. Robbie Ftorek is a great coach, a hockey legend and loved in the Albany NY market as he coached the Albany River Rats to a league championship and secured division and conference titles in the American League. Its rebuild time for Norfolk, it takes ownership, the municipality, and the loyal fans to help build it back up.
