If that's all the Devils were going to get for him why not just keep him and play him when he's healthy again?

Sorry, Im NOT expert of trades, but it doesn't make any sense to me... Is Parentau that bad lately ??? Based on this: http://www.thescore.com/news/707825 less that one in ten 6th rounders plays 100 games and less than one in three plays ANY game. They basically traded him for nothing (OK, for a lottery ticket, when in wich odds are against you)...

The Preds didn't really need him, but he's close to being a 20-goal scorer when healthy and adding another of those can't be a bad thing. By the time that his finger heals, someone in the top 9 might go down to injury. He's the kind of depth that's good to stock up on with the playoffs nearing, especially when the price is so reasonable.

It boggles my mind how the league values Parenteau so little. He's a solid player. Great middle 6 guy.

He's probably better than Craig Smith right now, and if someone goes down we'll have a decent scorer.
