Gee, no wonder I didn't make it to the NHL. I should've been born in January or February, not November :-P http://www.freakonomics.com/blog/2006/05/11/maybe-the-world-cup-wasnt-the-best-example/ It's an interesting, and possibly severe, problem though. Kids who are born late in the year are often overlooked by their coaches because they are nearly an entire year younger than kids born early in the year. And you know how much value coaches place on body size. So, many late born kids with decent talent are getting overlooked by the development system. Not sure if something like changing the month of the age bracket cutoff every year would help..?
