Figured I'd start a thread on this if any one here doesn't have console and wants to play NHL on PC.

Emulator is RPCS3. You'll need a decent PC to run it: RPCS3 Sony PlayStation 3 Emulator

PC I am using: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/m4NpMc

Here are the settings I'm using: Anyone still playing NHL14?

I won't post any links to the game file here as I'm sure that is not allowed.

NHL Legacy edition is basically NHL 14 with updated rosters from 2015.

NHL 16 - Wikipedia
NHL: Legacy Edition

NHL: Legacy Edition is an updated version of NHL 15 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. There are some minor changes, such as the menu music; however, the EA Sports logo is instead shown for the album arts, the NHL Moments Live from 2013–14 is replaced by some new ones that were made available as the 2015-16 NHL season progressed, and in the "Custom Team" game mode the team name selection is improved.[7]

Instructions for getting the 2020-2021 rosters:

Download roster file from here:

Dropbox - 1-25 Roster File.zip - Simplify your life

Extract the folder 'BLUS315400200'

Move the folder here: [Location of RPCS3 Install]\dev_hdd0\home\00000001\savedata\

Load into the game

If that file doesn't work for you, it may be due to being setup only for my profile. You can try decrypting the Operation Sports file yourself with instructions below.

Shoutout to Reff99 over at OS for creating these awesome rosters: PS3 NHL Legacy Rosters - 2020-2021 - Operation Sports Forums

and @Soedy for the help decrypting

How to decrypt PS3 save files for RPCS3:
Download BruteForce Save Data:
7.52 MB file on MEGA

Download the roster file from Operation Sports: PS3 NHL Legacy Rosters - 2020-2021 - Operation Sports Forums

Follow the above instructions but with the 2019-2020 rosters (confirmed to work) so you have an existing save to update in Step 10 below (2019-2020 rosters link: BLUS315400200.zip)

1. Update the games.conf file in your BruteForce root-Folder with the following entry:
; "NHL® Legacy Edition"
[BLUS31540]
;disc_hash_key=
secure_file_id:*=45415F53504F5254535F4E484C313600
View attachment 388772
2. Open BruteForce as Administrator and select your rpcs3 profile ([RPCS3 Install folder]\dev_hdd0\game\BLUS31540\PARAM.SFO)
View attachment 388779
3. Open the folder where the downloaded roster is in the "Path for SAVEDATA folders:" address bar
4. Right click on the Save -> "Decrypt all files"
5. Right click on the Save -> "Unlock save to work on any PS3 account"
6. Right click on the Save -> "Encrypt all files"
7. Right click on the Save -> "Rebuild with current profile (full)"
8. Right click on the Save -> "Decrypt all files"
9. In the navbar in the middle (between the saves and the info area) click on the far right button "Verify PDF"
10. Copy the modified SYS-DATA file to a roster save you made in the game. Example ([Location of RPCS3 Install]\dev_hdd0\home\00000001\savedata\BLUS315400200)

The only setting I adjusted was the audio buffering. It runs a little bit faster now but still slow motion, especially in the offensive of defensive zone. I'll get a new Ryzen 4000 once they release, hope it works then. Guess I'll play NHL 2k10 until then :)

Hope those rosters are the ones from OperationSports; a dude on there has legit modern rosters. Has like 3 draft years worth of real prospects in it and has NHL players with current ages/contracts.

NHL this gen has been so bad I'll still go back and play Legacy from time to time. Having no Vegas is literally the only downside.

Yeah I think these are his TDL rosters.

I’m still kicking myself over and over for not investing the time to play NHL13-15 during the 360/PS3 gen.

Maybe it’s the nostalgia of the era, since I used to watch Be a GM on Youtube during that time, but I’ve been wanting to play these games for a long while. Maybe I’ll go this PC route

Interesting, I'll give it a try, thanks!
I try ot for a few hours, I like it a lot, it's better the my last experience with NHL games on consoles!

Next questions is, can I edit the roster, there is an editor for this?

Could you decrypt the latest roster from Reff99? I followed your instructions but the game still isn't reading the roster, its the roster update after the Laine/PLD trade. I'm able to download your 2019-20 roster and play it though, so thank you, but I can't decrypt my own and RPCS3 doesn't read them until that. Here's the post with the download link.

Yeah I can hopefully take a look over the weekend when I have some free time. Maybe I missed something in the instructions, will update while I go through the process again if I did.

I have a 4.0 ghz, 6 core Intel i7 and this game is annoying to play via the emulator. It's 'playable' I guess, but it's not fun with the constant slow motion and frame drops. I've tried every setting combination in the world, and only frame limiting to 60 fps had a positive effect for me. Even then, it's not enjoyable.

Loved the idea, and I'm sure it works for you, but I have a feeling it's better on AMD chips, as I've noticed a couple options in the emulator that benefits Ryzen only.

It's a shame, because it would have been nice to be able to enjoy the game on PC once again, but it just doesn't work well for me.
