The Blackhawks have a pretty good history with the annual AllRookie team, starting in 1982-83, the first year I started watching hockey, Steve Larmer was named rookie of the year, winning the Calder Trophy and being named to the team

Whether Connor Bedard wins the Calder this year or not, he’ll be named to the AllRookie team for sure

Here’s a list of past Blackhawks’ AllRookie team members:

1982-83 Steve Larmer, f (won Calder)
1987-88 Darren Pang, g
1990-91 Ed Belfour, g (won Calder)
1991-92 Dominik Hasek, g
1995-96 Eric Daze, f
2002-03 Tyler Arnason, f
2007-08 Patrick Kane, f (won Calder)
2007-08 Jonathan Toews, f
2008-09 Kris Versteeg, f
2010-11 Corey Crawford, g
2012-13 Brandon Saad, f
2015-16 Artemi Panarin, f (won Calder)

I can't remember. Does Vlasic qualify as a rookie?
No as he played six or more games in two preceding seasons…I was going to follow up with the fact the Hawks haven’t had a defenceman make an AllRookie team yet

Other Blackhawks that received Calder votes since AllRookie teams were awarded

1984-85 Eddie Olczyk, f 8th
1989-90 Jeremy Roenick, f 3rd(but didn’t make the AllRookie team?)
1996-97 Ethan Moreau, f 11th
2001-02 Mark Bell, f 12th
2003-04 Tuomu Ruutu, f 6th
2005-06 Brent Seabrook, d 13th(4th dman)
2011-12 Andrew Shaw, f 12th
2017-18 Alex DeBrincat, f 10th
2018-19 Dominik Kahun, f 11th

So only ONE Blackhawks’ rookie defenceman has received a vote, towards rookie of the year since the NHL awarded an AllRookie team…Brent Seabrook

I was surprised to see JR finishing third I. Calder voting his rookie year and not making the AllRookie team…back then they had C, RW, LW as opposed to just three forwards now
