Seriously, it’s time to think about truncating the season. Someone’s going to get decimated by COVID and injuries if they try to make up all of these games in the allotted timeframe. Or, the season is going to end up being 10 months long and we’ll see fatigue injuries next season.

The conferences are way unbalanced anyway… just void Inter-conference results, cancel the rest of those games, and play the rest of the conference schedules.

I don't know how they are going to do it; I think they may have to extend the season further because of the number of intra-conference games remaining. Makes sense to cancel East-West and try to reschedule as needed though. Would be great if they could make up some games during the Olympic break, but I think the plan is to use that planned down time to help Omicron burn out in some teams.

That’s really the rub… they need the re-set so the pace of postponements will stop. But if they don’t use the break for rescheduling postponed games, they’ll soon be looking at pushing the regular season a month or more into the summer. And they don’t want to cancel anything because revenue.

It’s just a bad situation all around.

Do the owners control this? Bettman works for them right? So are they the ones that are deciding to postpone these games?

Bettman oversees day-to-day operations of the league, so the decision is coming from his desk. But he wouldn't be doing this without the owners' support and it's probably fair to say he's directly in contact with them when making the decision (which they may or may not unanimously agree with... if two owners argue, Bettman has to navigate which side to take).

Slavin won't get picked over Fox and every team needs a rep so NJ and CBJ get their top D picked.

Seems I was wrong though and these guys at least think Andersen will also get the nod. Which since they picked 3 other Rangers is the least they can do.
Well the Rangers Are the Bestest team evar so of course they'll get 3 in

Only benefit would be more rest for slavin as we drove towards the playoffs.

Svech outhustles every guy on the team on his back checks, chasing his guy all the way down to the goal line. He’s done it since he was 18, it’s why Rod played him early on. He and Foegele were the only guys on the team who would do it all the way back. Most give up when it looks like the play is dying or does die. Svech will chase them anyways. He takes stupid stick fouls and his passing choices makes his puck management questionable but he does his main defensive duty better than any guy on the team. I don’t know how that figures into the maths here, but I hold Svech in high regard in general about his defensive play. Aho is not a stud defensively, as we most recently saw on the game losing goal the other night. He’s a good all around two way guy but he’s often guilty of sitting in passing lanes hoping to pick off pucks instead of actually chasing down the guy he should be.
