I'm not good with Roman Numerals...

It would appear that the Leafs, in their infinite wisdom, managed to give David Clarkson what is perhaps the NHL's first buyout proof contract. Including the $4.5m he is earning this season, a buyout this June would net Clarkson something like $34m; or roughly 93% of the total value of the contract. A buyout would save the Leafs almost nothing ($2.6m or so). All in all, the only hope Leaf fans have is that Clarkson finds some way to contribute on a regular basis for the next 4 seasons or so.

Just thought I'd put this up here again. Makes me laugh. :D

I would take almost any former Devil back before Clarkson. He kinda annoys me now. He's looked very bad for the last 80 games or so that he's played. I absolutely would hope to never see him back with us if Dumbeor is still here. He'd play him in the top 6 again.

he's already had 2 fights tonight and has 12 minutes in penalties against the Quacks in the second period, though Toronto is up 3-0 :shakehead

Alex Chiasson had a severe panic attack and requires hospitalization

After witnessing the collapse of Peverley last night.

Peverely had a procedure before the season to correct an irregular heartbeat. From the Dallas News, Stars GM Jim Nill said:

“It turns out he had an `a-fib’ condition,” Nill said. “He’ll be out three weeks and should be available close to the start of the season. He might miss one or two games.”

Nill said the procedure entailed shocking the heart and getting it back into rhythm. He said that the training staff did a good job of picking up the problem when looking at his EKG during his physical.

“The medical staff did a great job, they recognized this,” Nill said. “They picked it up on the EKG, and he’s going to be fine.”

But the heart issue resurfaced last week. Peverely "felt strange" after a game on March 3 and then missed the Stars' next game against Columbus on March 4. He returned to the lineup on Thursday, March 6.

“It was the same thing,” Coach Lindy Ruff told the Dallas News. “He’s been monitoring it the whole year and this might have been the first or second time it’s come around, but it’s something he has to deal with and it’s something that obviously we’re aware of.”

He may be in the lineup on March 22-Rags expect him to be in NY and not Hartford.

He's not allowed to play in the AHL now

from that article

Haggerty’s father, Roger, was an All-American baseball standout at Providence College, and according to the Stamford Advocate, he also spent his freshman year playing hockey for then-Friars head coach Lou Lamoriello before switching full-time to baseball.
