I think it was known these wouldn't last long term. Either the sites would just quit and screw people out of money or something would put a stop to it. It was a matter of time. It really is no different than gambling. Although it was more like fantasy football its still a concept of gambling. I have nothing against gambling. You can go to Vegas and gamble or gamble online. The only reason why you can gamble online is those "casinos" are out of the country so they can't really do anything about it.

I have a problem with this. So I'm watching that college hoops tournament at Barclay's Center and in the middle of the court they have Fan Duel for the middle logo. I mean what? That has zero place in college athletics especially.

Just got this e-mail from DraftKings a few minutes ago... (I have an account... I just don't play for money)

Dear rangerssharks414,

As we continue to work to protect your right to play daily fantasy sports in New York, we want to provide you with the latest information on your status within the state.

Today, the New York Supreme Court heard our argument for keeping our game accessible for all players in New York. Our position was the same as it has always been: that DFS is a game of skill, one that builds community and whose competitive spirit has become central to the lives of millions of people.

At the hearing's conclusion, the Court determined that it would reserve its decision and that it would make a ruling sometime in the near future.

This means that you can continue to play as usual in New York. Your status as a player will in no way be affected before a final determination is reached by the Court.

In the meantime, we will continue to advocate energetically for your right to play the game you love.

To join in that effort and show your commitment to keeping daily fantasy sports accessible for all, add your name to the DK Players Alliance today.

We will keep you updated with any relevant information on your status. Thank you again for your support and for your loyalty to DraftKings.

You can't really prove its skill. You can say that, anybody could but that doesn't make it so. There may be an argument out there but its not like having the ability to look up stats and career vs an opponent and all of that is skill. Its just being smart and putting in time.

You put money down, you pick someone, you watch an event you have no control over, you win money if you picked well.

It's no different than betting on horses. It should be treated as such.

(Gambling in general should be legal in my book but that's a separate issue.)

Agree with all this.

Even after research bets fail. If they didn't games would never need to be played.

Yup. You can analyze all the data you want... sports are just so unpredictable, which makes them so great.
