There have been no Liiga-level arenas built this millennium. I'll be surprised if they manage to build new arenas in Helsinki, Turku or Oulu before the '30s.

The Helsinki one is at such a stage that while probably won't be ready for the next World Championships we host, at least soon after that. The new complex in Turku is planned to enter building stage in 2020.

In fact the newest Liiga arena is from the 1980s, as the two 1990s ones belong to a KHL and a bankrupt organization.

Also there are plans to build new arena to Lappeenranta.

Reading the latest issue of Jääkiekkolehti, there's also a major renovation happening in Kuopio. Niiralan Monttu will have a new mediacube, led boards and ringside seats. Locker rooms and sound tech will also be updated. Everything should be done by 2020. The capacity will increase to 5300. The rink size will move to the hybrid size of 60 x 28 meters for next season.

Whenever I visit the current Tampere-arena I really understand their eagerness to build a new one.

Yes a legendary arena and unless I'm wrong the first ever in Finland but still so out of date.

A bit unclear yet but around 13500 for the Tampere one with 50 luxury boxes, 10500-1500 with 100 boxes for the Helsinki one and 6000-7000 for the Jyväskylä one.
13,500 sounds way too big for a city the size of Tampere and 10,500 too small for Helsinki.

Apparently both Tampere clubs are missing out on a lot money due to lack of luxury boxes at Hakametsä. The Helsinki Garden project is still a bit unclear on what the capacity for hockey games will be.

How will they even get close to filling the Tampere arena?

The plan is to actually cover the some sections of the arena in games in games that don't include both Tappara and Ilves. Sure there's going to be people wanting to look at the new shiny toy as it was with Hartwall Areena back in the day, but nobody's expecting sellouts every game. The arena's not being built just for hockey, Tampere doesn't have a big multipurpose arena so this will make it easier to get other events and artists into the town.

Another hurdle cleared for the Helsinki Garden project, city council approved the plans.

Some new images on potential scenery changes: Helsinki päättää tänään uudesta jättiareenasta – Kuvat näyttävät, miten Töölön maisema mullistuisi

Attendance for hockey games would be 11 000 - 16 000.

It feels like this thing has been coming for 10 years now (probably close to it) and it probably still takes more years before building can start if it ever will.

Was about a time to get that Garden case going.

If the true attendance in sport events will be that 16000
then Finland and city of Helsinki should seriously consider to bring other sport events in Helsinki garden and not use that only an hockey arena.

Example FIBA men's Eurobasket tournament would be one option.
Helsinki Garden would be good home arena for Leijonat and Susijengi.

I don't know how accurate the arena will be to the design shown in the HS article, but it feels weird having a 16000-seater without a clear upper or lower bowl

There are evidently no 16k seats in that model, good if 10k. Slightly bigger than Hovet in Stockholm.
