It is historically where it went. Yzerman era flipped it.

I believe that's because otherwise the end of the Winged Wheel is too close to it. Looks better that way, imo.

When they changed to the newer era jerseys with panels, they literally had to move it to the other side or it would have interfered with the end of the logo.
