Completely missed that, MGM signed for a paltry 80K.

EDIT: Watts is for 2 years, MGM only 1.
I presume Mikyla got a sniff of U.S. life, and decided this is where she wanted to live & work. Not that the $$$ didn't help her make her decision.

AFAIK, she still lives in Toronto and commutes for games. But 80K US on top of what she makes at FedEx is a pretty good deal. I think the conversion rate is roughly 30% currently. Re: the Watts signing, I found a tweet that says 150K next year, and 200K the following year.

I'm surprised to see The Whale make the playoffs. Otherwise, the powerhouses of the League (or Federation) are where they belong.

PHF Playoffs sneaked up on me ...

#1 seed Boston Pride hosted the #4 Minnesota Whitecaps on Thursday night @ Bentley Arena to start their best-of-3 Semifinal this weekend. The Caps won 5-2, partially avenging the Pride sweep of their 4 head-to-heads during the regular season. Asst. captain forward Jonna Albers recorded a playoff hat trick to lead the Whitecaps' Game #1 victory (shorthanded goal in the 1st period, GWG on the PP in the 3rd, added the second of two ENGs late in the contest). The two teams meet again on Bentley ice Saturday night, with an if-necessary 3rd game scheduled Sunday.

#2 seed Toronto Six faces off against #3 Connecticut Whale in the other best-of-3 Semifinal matchup, with a Friday-Saturday-Monday (if needed) schedule @ Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto. The teams split their regular season series 2-2. Toronto has been led this season by forward Brittany Howard (16G + 10A = 26 points), defender Kati Tabin (4+14=18 pts.), and goaltender Elaine Chuli (12-5-0-2, 2.61 GAA, 0.917 SV%). Top contributors for the Whale include forward Kennedy Marchment (17G + 18A = 35 pts. ... entering the playoffs with a League record 18-game point streak), defender Allie Munroe (1+15=16 pts.), and goalie Abbie Ives (10-6-0-0, 2.57 GAA, 0.902 SV%).

Connecticut Whale defeat Toronto Six by a score of 5-3 on Friday, taking a 1-0 lead in their best-of-3 Semifinal series.

ETA: Shout-out to former Lindenwood University Lions forward Taylor Girard, who scored twice for CT in Game #1.

Toronto Six traded goals with the CT Whale on Saturday afternoon in regulation, then won Game 2 in the 3-on-3 OT session. Game winner by Emma Woods, final score = TOR 3 - CTW 2. Whale top skaters looked gassed as the second period wrapped up, and didn't recover. ETA: Game #3 of this series is scheduled for Monday evening 3/20.

In the second PHF semifinal game of Saturday 3/18, the Minnesota Whitecaps eliminated the defending champs Boston Pride with a 4-1 victory to sweep their series. The Pride started the Game #2 scoring with a goal by forward Taylor Wenczkowski @ 6:19 of the opening period; but then Minnesota took a 2-1 lead within 5 minutes & added two more goals in the 3rd (all by different scorers) to wrap up the comeback (and beyond). Whitecaps goalie Amanda Leveille stopped 47 of 48 BOS SOGs for the win.

Now the Caps wait to see whether they'll face Connecticut or Toronto on March 26th in Arizona for the 2023 PHF championship.

To the Monday winners go the game summary ... TORONTO SIX SHUTOUT WHALE IN SEMIFINALS, ADVANCE TO FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES IN FRANCHISE HISTORY

The Six looked destined to bow out early in their semifinal series, but someone/something lit a fire under their hockey pants after Game 1. Too bad the Finals are nearly a week away, but the scheduling will give Toronto & Minnesota the time to build their best game plans. Sunday 3/26 @ The Mullett, 6 p.m. MT (9 p.m. ET) on ESPN2/ESPN+ and TSN.
