Maine beginning to take liberties after the referees swallowed their whistles, dragging the Bugs down with them.

Matching 10-minute misconducts issued with about 6 minutes left. The players almost met up outside the glass to exchange opinions, but the referee luckily saw the danger & directed the players to exit separately.

Final Score = Mudbugs 5 - Nordiques 1. Shreveport was clearly the dominant team in this Semifinals matchup. They move on to Tuesday's Finals vs. Aberdeen.

The house is rocking @ Fogerty Ice Arena-South tonight. Supporters for both teams are making it difficult for the in-game announcer to be heard. LONG drives for both groups, but an extra round of stick taps to the Geaux Bugs crowd for their extraordinary road trip.

ETA: The Wings' PBP guy said the Fogerty-South crowd us "about capacity" early in this game. Sure looks & sounds like it.

First penalty of the game goes against the Wings @ 3 minutes in, after a physical sequence of play initiated by the Mudbugs forecheck. The Wings PK groups played very aggressively, and killed off the 2-minute minor.

@ 8 minutes left in the 1st, Mudbugs whistled for their first infraction. The SHV PK was just as aggressive as the previous ABD kill, and it forced another Wings minor. Both were killed of to keep this scoreless.

Not long after the overlapping penalties expired, Wings' Cullen Ferguson (Union commit) was rocked by a hit in center ice and had to be helped to the dressing room after stumbling back to the ice when he tried to get up. The replay (a new feature on HockeyTV for this game) showed it was contact to the head, but the officials didn't see it. Play on with the Wings down a player.

End of one period, 0-0. SOGs 13-8 in favor of the Mudbugs. The Wings started to hit back after about the first five minutes, and cranked it up further after the Ferguson injury. This doesn't look like a junior hockey game, but it's a helluva match to watch. :vhappy:

19:07 mark of the middle period, Wings D failed to clear the zone & Bugs' Sean Bunting (Air Force Academy) took the puck to the net to beat Jake Sibell (Niagara U) five hole. 1-0 Shreveport, and the Aberdeen partisan crowd goes quiet(er).

Mudbugs penalized for boarding behind the Aberdeen end redline, minor penalty PP for the Wings. Shreveport PK prevails early, but Liam Fraser redirects a point shot past Cole Hudson (U of Vermont) to make it 2-1 with under 7 minutes left in the middle frame. Wings fans back to their old selves. :highclap:

With 1:15 left in the second, Hudson does the splits & flashes the glove leather to rob Will Arquiett (St. Lawrence U) after a pretty cross-ice feed. Wings issued a double minor for high sticking seconds later, after a Bugs skater appears to lose some teeth.

End of 2 periods, Shreveport 2 - Aberdeen 1. SOGs now 24-15 in favor of the Bugs, though both teams stepped up their team D after the Wings' tally & the shots diminished. Aberdeen will remain shorthanded at the beginning of the 3rd, with 3:06 left in the double minor infraction.
