habs don't do this AND lehks value is worth more than a 2nd. He WAS a 2nd rounder, solid all around top 9, young, with low cap hit. you aint getting him for this proposal or simply a 2nd

Useful yes. Someone you give up potentially higher ceiling prospects for? Absolutely not.

25-30 point players are very easily found every year in free agency.

Yes and they cost a lot once they become UFA. Great two-way third liner like Lehkonen are harder to find though.

Also, in the case of Lehkonen, who’s going to be RFA after his deal is up, draft picks are irrelevant. You don’t trade a very good and useful 24 years old for draft picks or prospects unless you have cap issues or its a big/can’t miss type of prospect. Otherwise, It’s counter-productive.

If Lehkonen is dealt, it’s either for a player around the same age that fill a need elsewhere in your lineup or one of the pieces of a quantity for quality kind of deal.

lehkonen isn't a great two-way winger :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

25-30 point wingers who are good defensively are one of the most easiest types of players to find in free agency.

I proposed the trade because we have drouin, Tatar, gallagher, caufield(1year), Byron, Kovalchuk likely, armia, ylonen(1year), all on the wing that will likely play top 6. Lehkonen will be wasted on the 4th line.

that sounds like Andreas Johansen, except AJ is badly overpaid for the 30 something points he might produce while adding very little else.

30 something points would be more than what lekhonen could muster up in 3/4 of his nhl seasons.

in johnsson's first full nhl season, he scored 43 in 73. he's also above average defensively, so by virtue, he's much more valuable that a dime in dozen lehkonen.

Except AJ is overpaid for what he does. Lehks is underpaid. Sucks to over pay eh? Seems to be Dubas’s MO !

how is lekhonen underpaid? he scores less than 30 points a season and makes more than 2 million. dime a dozen player.

johnsson at his healthy form is not overpaid. over 40 points in under 75 games for less than 3.5? looks like a solid deal.

Why does Tampa even consider this? There's no spot for Lehkonen in the top 9 and on the 4th line even at 50% retained he costs too much. We also don't have a need for a winger as we have to find a spot for Verheaghe, Volkov and Joseph next year.

Because it involves the Habs and damn everything else. They don't want our player and are offended we don't want theirs. So is Habs life.

The bolded are likely done by the time Caufield and Ylonen are ready.

Lol Johnson isn't a dime a dozen player?? Hell yes he is. The guy wouldn't hit 20 points playing where and with the players lehkonen played with every season. Except he isn't worth his contract and is older.

Ah, that makes sense. I like Byron, would love him on Tampa.

He’s a very good player but he may become a cap casualty next year. We have to sign Danault, Gallagher, Tatar, Lehkonen, Armia, Petry, Kotkaniemi and Poehling.

We’ll see how it goes and the moves we make this summer but if we bring a player (LHD) this off season and the cap stay flat again next year Bergevin might have to pull a Shaw on Byron and trade him for picks
