Value isn’t that bad but it just can’t be done. Montreal has a ton of good, young LHD but none has the ceiling or skillset of Guhle.

Cant see why Habs would trade Ghule for picks they would hope would turn into Ghule, and give 2 2nds? Doubt they would even do it if you took out the 2 x 2nds

Also #9 this year is a great pick and could land a great fowards that what Habs needs the most

Wifi (needs this guy to keep star player safe)

Engstrom (Looks really good this year)
Trudeau (Great D all around)
Lots of great replacement.
Pretty sure we can't include the Florida's pick in a 2nd Habs trade to force outcomes in the first one (Monahan).

Habs better decline, Ghule will be a top quality Dman for a long time, the number 9 pick who knows, probably not as good as Guhle, the 2 2nd rounders can be packaged in a different deal.

Which would:
- Be very dumb from Calgary to guarantee we get their 2025 1st.
- Likely be blocked by the league.
This is based on Calgary not knowing their own trade which is both unrealistic and insulting.

This seems like trading a boat for a mystery box with the hope that inside the mystery box is a boat. The purpose of draft picks is to get young players like Guhle, the Habs would be foolish to trade Guhle for the 9th pick.

Not a chance. This would be Montreal trying to fleece Calgary.
Calgary's needs are at centre.
Value is terrible on this proposal.
I remember when I thought every Devils prospect was going to hit their "ceiling" and become NHL regulars.
No I don't. I just tend to talk about the ones that I think do have a chance. Do you see me talking about Samu Salminen? Chase Stillman? Topias Vilen? Pytlik? Clarke?

The Only D prospects i see potentially panning out as stars are Hutson and Reinbacher. Xhekaj will be a solid bottom pairing. Mailloux has potential to be a 2nd pair but is poor defensively. The rest are fillers including Barron.
Like any other fanbase, Habs fans are high on the bluechip prospects and are only hopeful on the rest!

I didn't say anything about the Habs fans only overrating their prospects. Every team fanbase does but especially the ones that are rebuilding. They usually haven't gotten a high quality prospect for years and suddenly they get a lot of them, It's perfectly normal for fans to suddenly get hyped up and think all of them are going to turn out to be great NHL players.
I don't think I do as much overating, especially as much as I used to because of players like Mcleod, Zacha, Stillman, Holtz, Ty Smith. showing me time and time again that not every prospect turns into what you hope they will be.
