Well, some of you know I’m from South Dakota (hence the Mnt. Rushmore reference). So we need to rank the most drinkable offenses (1- to how ever many it takes) made by a Wild announcer/player during a game. Actually this could be quite comical.

1. “Identity”

2. Bad turnover

3. “Johnny” Merrill

4. “Identity” again

Yes! That was just the other night. Forgot about that one. Must’ve drank too much from the turnovers.

Walz rambling needs to be on there but can be hard to quantify.

“He shoots!” (Noticeable pause) followed by “Just Wide!”

Change it up to
“He shoots! (Pause to get us really excited) followed by “Not even Close!” So the reality has more bite to it….

He must say just wide about 30 times a night… (what else is he supposed to say )

Yeah again I don't want this to come off as me wanting him gone, per se. He just is very beige to me after this long. But it's a good point, beige is better than black or neon yellow or ear wax orange.

Exactly. He's not wrong, it's just that it's become conspicuous that he never actually says how many. 2-on-1, 3-on-2, 4-on-2? No, just "numbers".

That actually brings up another nitpick for me. When a guy has a breakaway, he often says "Skater Name is one-on-one with Goalie Name", but "one-on-one" commonly refers to a skater coming into the offensive zone against another skater. The goalie doesn't get counted in those situations. Most other play-by-play guys would say he's "in alone" against the goalie. He's just sort of different from most in the way he calls odd-man rushes, and in sort of an odd way.

None of these really bother me enough to complain about it normally, but since someone made a thread for it...

I like LaPanta, just wish they’d quit the analyst rotation and leave Carter in there all the time. Would cut down the drinking ten fold…..

LaPanta’s voice is different and has a nice tone to it for doing play by play

Actually I wouldn't mind seeing Gigi back when she's done in the PWHL. I actually liked her and thought she had some potential as an analyst.

Walz gets on a tangent which seems to take forever and he always says Minnesota Wild. He could shorten it up to just the Wild or even just Minnesota and it would be perfectly fine. Doesn’t seem like much, but when you say it about 7 times in one train of thought it takes forever.

Someone suggested that he gets paid by the number of words he says, so you better get used to it, haha...
