Dream offseason:

Trade up with the Jets pick and draft two of Celebrini, Demidov, Lindstrom, Catton, Iginla, Eiserman, Helenius, or even Levshunov, Buium, Dickinson, Yacumchuk, Parekh, Saliyev, etc...

Sign Monahan and Marchessault. Trade Dvo to make room.
That's likely the top 13, top 15, so it would be a hard trade. Yakemchuk would be sick, but he's gotta be pushing top 10

Funny how Monahan's stock is up now on this forum, while a few months ago the near-consensus was that he was made of glass (I went against that prevailing view, as some may remember). What I don't understand is if he had an agreement with HuGo to trade him to a contender, which presumably forced their hand to make him available, how that consideration would no longer apply this summer. I would think the team's competitiveness still matters to the player, all the more so given his perspective on the Habs for having traded him out once.

Loved him as a hab, glad he was able to resurrect his career here, great guy, but I think that chapters over.

Farabee would be a good pick up if Flyers are interested in one of our young D. Do you do it if they ask for Mailloux + pick?
I was thinking it would take something like Mailloux. Not sure I would move Mailloux. I would do Barron, Jets 1st and a 2025 2nd though.

I wonder if there's any interest around the league to give up Farabee type of players for packages including Barron, Struble, Harris, etc... And what would teams be willing to give up above a 3rd round pick?

If Bergevin wanted his old boys back, would you guys do Gallagher + Anderson for PLD?

I would'nt touch Dubois with a 10 feet pole.

8.5M$/yr until 2031, looks like he has major attitude problems.

Meanwhile, Gally is overpaid but he is respected and appreciated. Anderson is shit. Both his and Anderson contrats will end in 2027. I'd probably buy Anderson out. Maybe Gally doesn't make it and retire on LTIR.

My personal feeling about this team is that they could actually make the playoffs next year if they add 2 top-6 forwards and a veteran RHD.

I think Hughes finds a way to dump Anderson even if he has to suck it up and not get the King's ransom he was demanding for him a couple seasons ago. Anderson just isn't a fit for MSL, and Habs just doubled down on MSL.

Harris is the only one we should really be looking to trade this summer. Guhle, Matheson, Xhekaj, Struble and will need to make room for Hutson by the halfway point of the season. I see Harris being traded and Struble probably getting some AHL time next year. I'm a Barron hater but I like the idea of keeping him as a 7D next year when the team needs to add a bit of offense. We'll also need to add a veteran RHD if we want to keep Mailloux and Reinbacher in the AHL to start the year, ideally someone who is better than Kovacevic.

Slafkovsky-Suzuki-Caufield

Newhook-Dvorak-Roy
Gallagher-Evans-Armia
RHP/Pez

Matheson-Savard
Guhle-RHD
Xhekaj-Kovacevic

I also don't see the harm in us adding short term solutions in the top-6 and at RD. We don't really have any true top-6 forward prospects, aside from Roy, and Savard and Kovacevic are very tradable. Hopefully we get a legit top-6 W in this draft and and some combination of Newhook, Roy, and 5oa become Dach's permanent wingers when the time is ready. We've done a good job accumulating draft picks and drafting for NHL depth that the cost to add these players shouldn't impact our future capital too much.

XXX ----Newhook--Roy

Newhook drives the play with his speed from the center.
One of Dvorak and Evans needs to go, they are both 4th line center and essentially are in the same role as faceoff and PK specialists.

If you look at our depth card we are VERY VERY weak at on both wings and not a lot coming from the prospect pool.

Draft: Assuming we ndon't get the #1 pick and Demidov is gone, I would be happy with any of
Lindstrom, Eisenman, Catton.
(Eisenman would fit our need and is going to BU where we have had good success picking from; the coaches there will work on his overall game.)
Lindstrom can be moved to wing and is a big body!

I could see BOTH Harris and Barron traded this year along with picks for wingers.

On Defense, as much as I would like to see Guhle play on his natural side, we have too much depth on the LD.

Matheson-Guhle
Huston - Savard
WiFi/Struble-Kovacevic

RHD - Logan M could push Savard out at the trade deadline or sooner.

WE don't need to use any assets for a RHD IMO, we need to focus in our forward where we have little to no depth in the top 6.

Utah changes the landscape considerably this offseason.

They have boat loads of cap room, a strong prospect pool, tons of draft capital, and an owner with deep pockets.

Any older vet looking for term and cap is licking their chops. If Stamkos wants top $, I bet he ends up there.

From desert to mountain, you've got it right.

Would do similar offer Nashville made last year, Askarov + 2 first picks for 5? Farabee+12 + 30 for 5,?

i'm pretty sure 1, if not 2 of Hutson, Reinbacher and Mailloux will make the team next season. HuGo will want to maximize Savard's presence on the team. And unfortunately, i think Guhle will play RHD as long as Matheson is on the team.

Next season imo :

Matheson-Guhle
Hutson-Savard
Xhekaj-Mailloux
Struble--Kovacevic

Harris-Barron traded.
Pretty much how I see it as well.

Reinbacher will likely start the season in Laval next year.

Reuniting Xhekaj and Mailloux to see what it provides at the NHL level will be tempting.

Savard is definitely ear-markedtoplay with Hutson as his big brother.

Would you throw a ridiculous offer to Stamkos like a 2 year $12M contract?

Slafkovsky-Suzuki-Caufield
Newhook-Dach-Stamkos
Roy- Dvorak-Anderson

I would think Stankos would like to stay in Tampa but a $12M contract would be hard to refuse and even harder to match. We have plenty of cap room for the next 2 years so might as well spend it on a cup winner captain that can teach the kids how to do it!

Also St-Louis played 6 seasons with him so there might be a good connection there.

No thanks.

The ceiling of the talent on the board at 5 is too high, not too mention the ELC/RFA years of that pick fitting nicely into our core from a 5-7 year cap pov

I agree, I would pass also. Habs need to get as much skill as possible with their pick.

Farabee not enough to compensate the drop in skill from a Catton or Lindstrom. To a Helenius, Ignila or Eiserman at 11. The 30th is nice but not a major piece.

I think the only way I make this trade is if top 4 forwards are gone at 5. But only see slim chance that happens

Id say Struble - Kova - Savard finding new homes.

Struble is no where close to Xhekaj so lets move on from that idea.
Hutson and Reinbacher will make the team

Matheson - Guhle
Hutson - Xhekaj ( Just incase guys like Reaves/ Wilson wanna try and take Hutson out)
Reinbacher / Harris
Baron

I don't see why the Flyers would trade a young up & comer like Farabee but if the Habs can then i would possibly put in play the Habs' 1st rounder depending on the lottery results. I think Farabee is exactly the type of player we should target. Also, if we're able to move just outside the top 10 and grab Farabee then that makes it very attractive.

Farabee + 12 + 30 for 5th OA is tempting, especially if you can package 12th + 30th, or 12th + WIN 2024 pick tome up and snag Iginla before CAL does.

Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Farabee - Dach - Iginla
Newhook - Beck - Roy

has a good feel about it.

I'd still consider trading Guhle + for Kyrou and Newhook or Farabee could become that +

Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Iginla - Dach - Kyrou
Newhook - Beck - Roy

-OR-

Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Farabee - Dach - Kyrou
Iginla - Beck - Roy

Quiet 50 pt young winger signed 4 more seasons a 5 mil would cost.

But if you are willing to dangle 5th oa for Farabee and 12th, pretty sure he is gone.

I doubt there's much chance of it happening but I would certainly be tempted to do it.
