Fuquay-Varina has become a bit of a hot spot over time. Aviator has kind of taken over that one area of the town and it brings in a lot of people and it's one of the fastest growing spots in NC. The two downtowns is kind of wonky though, but there's a lot more going on. Due to road design, the traffic sucks though.

We considered moving there when we downsized, but since we travel to our farm up north a lot, that would have added an extra 45min - 1 hour each way vs. where we moved to and I didn't want to deal with that.
Fuquay is a cool little town but was very deserving when the local DJ did that parody.

No, but seriously.... just move the Rays

As bad a look as that was for Tampa — and it really was — I saw something about how they didn’t schedule it till 2 days before and then it ended up being a day game on a work day? That’s pretty nightmarish for trying to fill a building, even for a playoff game.

Yeah but I mean these kind of series get scheduled every year. In a situation where a divisional race is tight, there's always a team that has short notice to play home playoff games in the afternoon in the Wild Card round. To see that the Rays had the fewest people in attendance for a playoff game in the last 104 years is astonishingly bad. That's Canes playing NHL playoff games in Greensboro Coliseum with the tarp closing off the upper bowl levels of bad, and the Rays have been playing in the Trop since the Canes actually played those games.

One other thing to keep in mind, when the Trop first opened for baseball, the seating capacity was 45,369. Since 2019, with removed and tarped off seats, their capacity has dropped to 25,000. And they still couldn't fill it.

Raleigh would absolutely do better than that. We go crazy for any opportunity to be a fan in a high stakes atmosphere, regardless of the time of day the games are played. Hell, we do it every year around the ACC and NCAA Tournament in March.

I get it, the Rays fanbase has been pretty well solidified as the worst in the big leagues. Even Coyotes fans have some reasonable excuses like not having playoff games to get excited about in the first place.

I just don’t think it’s real smart for MLB to schedule these things in such a way that people have 48 hours to arrange time off work on consecutive afternoons. That’s such a shitty thing to do to the fans, and realistically it tanks interest in the game. I get that they don’t want TV conflicts, but they could easily have scheduled this thing at 7pm and not had a black eye on the league. In my view this is more of a conjunction of weak fanbase and stupid management, resulting in a worst-case scenario.

Also, KC had an average of only 16K attendance for the season. This was the last game of the season, on a Sunday afternoon, in a game in which it was likely the last game in a KC uniform for Grienke, so the tweeter clearly cherry picked their example. That doesn't mean TB doesn't have attendance issues, just a little context.
