Were screwed.

Boone just asked about Ottavino.

“We’ll continue to use him. Thought he was in the middle of a good first AB”

My god what are you watching?!?!?! This Joe Torre falling in love with certain relievers all over again.

Gary Sanchez staying in there too.

**** boone
Joe Torre overused decent relievers.

Boone is sending a lamb out there to die. This is more akin to something AV would do.

Not Boone’s fault this garbage team couldn’t score runs. They can’t beat Cole at home, when are they ever going to beat him? This series is over. These punk ass cowards can never do anything in the playoffs.

Honestly, I'm less concerned with who's coming in and more focused on who's going out.

Taking automatic outs out of the lineup is addition by subtraction.

I'm more into moving somebody to 1B than getting a traditional 1B. It's a meathead position and like five teams have a good first baseman.

Cashman getting the likes of DJ and Gio was good. EE was puzzling.

Do we need Romine over Sanchez? Can he replace Sanchez? Who then replaces Romine's role?

An OF rotation of Stantion/Judge/Hicks/Maybin/Tauchman is good. Gardner leaves the rotation.

Replace DD with Torres, and then upgrade at 2B to replace Torres.

Add Cole. Betances comes back. German...something happens. CC/Otto leave, and I think the rest of the BP is fine as is once Betances/another starter come into the fold by virtue of being relied on less.

I know he's coming off a bad season but I wouldn't be against reuniting with Cervelli.

He's a respectable defender and he's a f***ing pain in the ass. He doesn't strike out and he sees a lot of pitches.

Our offense desperately lacks that grind factor. For a team known for their patience, there's way too many absolute pushover, easy outs against good pitching.

LeMahieu, Judge, and Torres are our only hitters interested in seeing more than two pitches in an at-bat and they're the only guys doing bumf*** anything.

The first inning says it all.

Cole was in just as much trouble as Severino was. It took Cole 14 pitches and it took Severino like what, 37?

I thought I was the only one that didn't understand that move. It was similar to Stanton. Just unnecessary.
The guy was batting .230 with a bunch of homers. Talk about boom or bust. I didn't get it.
At the time Clint Frazier was producing. RISP/Power and hitting .280.

Only explanation I heard was they wanted to keep him from the Rays. The Rays with Encarnacion are still not a better team than the Yankees.

The issue with Frazier is that he strikes out like he's swinging a noodle and doesn't give you the power to warrant it.

They can keep him from the Rays all they want. Doesn't mean he has to be batting cleanup for us in a playoff game.

The mistake was less so acquiring EE and more so not giving yourself a better option.

LaMehieu is just fine at 1B. He's one of the few players Cashman brought in in the last few years that actually hits for contact. Ditto Urshela. More than fine with keeping him for 3B too. The infield is fine with Gregorious rounding things out unless he wants absolutely stupid money.

The outfield still needs work. Hicks can't stay healthy a full season. Gardner is old and shouldn't be on the team next year. Judge should be extended. Stanton is a boat anchor. Hoping Florial is ready sooner rather than later.

I'm fine with keeping Romine as the every day catcher. f*** Sanchez. He and Andujar are the bait to bring in an ace.

Overhaul the pitching. Tanaka and Severino are fine 2/3 pitchers, but aces they are not. Paxton's been a huge disappointment. Happ was another Cashman special.

The only way we're going to beat teams like Houston is to match up against them in the pitching department. That, and for the bats to stop turning into pumpkins in the pennant series.

Yeah, like, Urshella has been whatever in the playoffs. Hitting .250 with a homer. But at least he'll put in an honest at-bat. He's struck out twice the entire postseason.

I've had it with Sanchez whiffing on four pitches and Didi popping the first pitch straight up. It's not just that they're not producing, it's that they're easy. You have to make good pitchers sweat and wear them down to beat them.

I bring up 1B because I'm kinda done with Didi also. LeMahieu is a great 2B and Torres is your SS for the next 9,000 years. That being said, like I said before, a lot of 1B suck these days. It might be easier to bring in another utility infielder or 2B and keep LeMahieu there.

OF: Stanton, Judge, Maybin, Sock, Hicks/Hicks' inevitable injury replacement
IF: Torres (SS/2B), DJ (1B), Gio (3B), Didi/2B replacement unless his contract demands are reasonable
C: Romine, Sanchez replacement
SP: Cole, Tanaka, Pax, Sevy
RP: Green, Britton, Cessa, Kahnle are a fine quad to start with and build out from. Chapman...I think go the distance with him until a replacement comes along.

While we're dumping on Cashman.

How about that Hicks contract? I don't care about the 10mil per but seven years to Aaron Hicks? Really?
I'm pretty sure he would have signed for 3 or 4 years.

I have no interest bringing Didi back, regardless of what the money is.

My infield next year:

3B Andujar/Urshella
SS Torres
2B LaMehieu
1B Voit

A big part of me is really hoping tomorrow is rained out so Tanaka can pitch Game 4 on 4 days' rest. f*** this nonsense with pitching the bullpen in a pivotal Game 4. Pitch Tanaka in Game 4 and then again in Game 7 if the Yankees can get it there.

Boone needs to be fired on the spot if CC or Happ start Game 4.

Hicks is a good player and brings a lot of the elements we need. He's fast and gets on base like crazy. His issue is health.

The Nats are also looking like a buzzsaw. They're winning it all this year, IMO. No matter who comes out of the AL.

One of these days will finally move on from Cashman and hire a GM who makes the gutsy moves that put you over the top.

The game may be changing but some things still hold true and that is Pitching wins championships, that is great Starting Pitching wins championships. Not overworked bullpens.

oh and hitters that make good contact, put balls in play, and hit line drives gap to gap. Not swing and miss specialists who try to elevate every pitch and against great pitching those turn into flyouts.

Sanchez has worn out his welcome here.

Romine should go in there. I would also put Maybin in for Gardner.
Maybin is a journeyman in his early 30s. We can do better.

Would the Dodgers move Gavin Lux for Sanchez? Lux and Torres could be our SS-2B duo for the next decade
