Carolina is going to shed a crazy amount of talent this offseason. But they have enough flexibility to construct a competitive roster.

Friedman said they're considering a Kotkaniemi buyout. Wonder if he'd end up on the Flyers

The one time the Hurricanes got purely emotional in their process and it blew up in their faces. Cost them Trocheck too.

I'm kind of wondering if they'd be willing to give us assets and retain to avoid having him on the books until 2036. Something like Kotkaniemi at whatever percentage brings him down to $3M and #28 for some sort of cap ballast, maybe Atkinson. They'd be on the hook for $1.82M for 6 years instead of $835K for 12, and we'd get him for something closer to his actual worth.

Probably not, his buyout is long but not expensive, but it's a thought.

Was thinking about if Johansen might make some sense

That’s as quiet as I’ve heard that area, not sure if it’s the audio

Just noticed that Marchand is 36 already. For some reason I thought he was much younger. But makes sense considering he was already with them when they won the Cup in 2011.
