This guy was picked over Ronald Petrovicky and Juraj Kolnik on the Slovakian World Cup team.

Does anyone know anything about Miroslav Hlinka?

Is he any good at all or did the Slovakian team officials just be stupid?

Is Hlinka as good as Radovan Somik?

He is a good, responsible defensive center who's may asset is winning face-offs. He isn't great offensivelly but is good at backchecking. But I would still rather take Rast.Pavlikovsky. Kolnik was awful at the WC's, that's why he wasn't picked. We needed some defensive attackers, we can't have offensive players only.

I think Miro is a great character player who is excellent at face offs and very responsible defensively. Although he will never be a scoring leader (it's pretty tough task on loaded slovak offence anyway) he is great addition to the locker room and important for team spirit.

IMO huge upgrade over kolnik and also petrovicky.
