38 years olds but has taken over as the Oilers starter. The guy can still play. He's putting up his best numbers since he was in his prime with Pheonix in 2011-12. Even as a teams backup on paper, he's up there as the best backup right now in the league.

Highly doubt the Oilers resign him this summer. What will he get and what term? I can see a contender signing him as insurance and for experience - Colorado, Dallas?

He has played very well this year but I imagine a lot of GMs will look at this level of play with some skepticism that he can repeat next year.

I don't think he'll get much of a raise off what he is currently making, due to his age.

He’s going to be 39 turning 40 during the next season. Teams likely wont offer much regardless if he posts solid numbers over a 20-30 game sample size this year.

The oilers seem as likely a team as any to sign him if he keeps this play (or close to it) up. There aren’t a tonne of options out there for upgrading the net available in the off-season.

He’s loved in the dressing room and really seems to bring a lot of veteran leadership. Koskinen also plays much better when he’s in a 1b/backup roll.

The Oilers should work on getting a starting goalie to be with the team long term, and keep Smith as a back up or 1b option. Sign him to a shorter term contract. Smith has been good on the ice and great for the team.

Probably something like 1 year x ~$2 or $2.5M, possibly with a (some) bonus(es) in place as well as limited trade protection

Any number of teams may possibly want him, and there are a decent amount of teams who would want a veteran 1B specifically during this offseason I'd imagine

He'll likely land somewhere on a one year deal around 1.5-2. wouldn't be shocked if Buffalo brought him to back up Ullmark when Hutton leaves or something like that

Oilers need to sign him long term and give him a raise.
It’s not like Smitty has been know for huge ups and downs for years.
