If an arbitrator is prepared to give Hoffman anywhere from 3-4M per, we should follow the Preds example and lock him up long-term at a slightly higher salary.

I still think a one-year "show me" deal is best for Hoffman.

Its an interesting journey. If he does produce, having been held to only a one year deal this time, he may well only agree to another one to hit UFA status and sign anywhere for big bucks. If we could get him at 4 X 3.5-4 we should consider that. He is better than Michalek at the same price, no question.
