Michael Del Zotto will be a healthy scratch tomorrow vs the Canadiens. He could very well leave the #rangers via transaction. His name is circulating around the NHL.

There is a rumor going around that MDZ is being thrown around. How woul you guys feel if we traded for MDZ?

What do you think?

I think he's another defensemen the Flames have plenty of. He's no different then a Wideman, Brodie, Russell or a Cundari. If the cost was reasonable then sure, but I don't see that being the case.

One of the last thing the Flames need is another offensive puck moving defensemen. It'd be a complete waste of assets.

Wouldn't mind it if we send a bottom pairing defenseman back (with what ever else we would give up Stempniak?), he is only 23 and would fit long term.

Gio - Del Zotto
Wideman - Brodie (I liked them last year)
Smid - Russell
Butler

That is a lineup I could get behind!

I'd even be willing to give a late round pick! Come on Burkie!

If it's a Burkish good value trade, then sure, but MDZ isn't a guy we should be targeting or giving up major assets for IMO. We have much bigger holes to fill, current and future. We need top pairing potential D-men not PP specialist #4 PMDs.

He's gonna want a pay raise, and I doubt NYR can afford much with all the pending free agents and RFAs so if he could be had for a good deal I'd be down

I'd guess to Edmonton for Yakupov or something like that. Maybe their 1st since MacT apparently says its available. Personally I'd like thefanblogger to weigh in on this one before making a judgment though.

That said, like many others it depends on the return as a young, puck moving defenseman coming in would help accelerate the rebuild. I would hesitate to give up on Bart already but I wouldn't necessarily anoint him as an untouchable just yet.
