I thought this was a good way to bolter the instant discussion of New Jersey Devils/NHL once the Threads is released tomorrow. My IG handle is jason.macisaac, apparently Threads will use the same handle.

I will still post some thoughts on twitter however most of my observations will be via the new platform. The faster we, as a group, can transition I anticipate the writers/media will follow the market.

Just witnessed the countdown to zero.

Now it just says : "Threads"

(I guess the only way to access it is through the app. There isn't a Desktop version. BOOO!)

I’ve never used the word before but I think “thirsty” would be a good way to describe a/s/l days
My first exposure to that was an internet chat room, probably still in the 90's. I think for a lot of people it was a rather innocuous question, just for one to kind of an idea of who they're speaking to.

I remember an internet chat room was the first time I ever saw ''lol'', only I'm pretty sure this was a little bit later than the 90's. Probably the very early 00's.

I was a bit baffled by this and I think I saw someone say it right as I entered the chat room, so one of the first things I read was ''lol'', so I assumed someone was saying hello to me. The end of hello looks like lol a little bit, so that was my logic and reason for thinking this was a greeting.

I'll definitely be signing up for threads. Who knows when Elon will completely turn Twitter into a burnt husk.

EDIT: Nvm. Just signed up. Pure algorithmic feed, not chronological. Garbage.

I just signed up, I'll give it time. This one will be purely sports.

I knew a lot of guy friends who would immediately stop talking to people when it wasn’t an “F” and an age within a year :laugh:

Would we be talking about threads at all if Twitter did the rate limiting in August instead of the start of NHL free agency?

I'm on it but I'm not posting my username since it has my real name. DM if you want it, but as a warning I rarely actually post about hockey on social media. HF is my hockey outlet, Twitter / Twitter-esque sites are where I do most of my shitposting and political rants.

But Threads definitely sucks so far. It shows you mostly stuff from people you have no interest in and you can't sort it chronologically, which would rendered it useless on things like UFA day and the like.

Twitter has been circling the drain since Elon took over; too many openly-literally-Nazi accounts and broken functionality left and right, as well as allowing the dumbest people on the internet to boost their replies to the top by paying that guy.

I prefer less censorship, which is pretty much what Twitter is for, and is the opposite of what you get with a Zuckerberg product.

But that’s really beside the point. I don’t see any NFL centric accounts talking about leaving Twitter for Threads because the rate limiting didn’t occur during a heavy NFL news period.

Anyway, I like Twitter and never had a Facebook account, so from my standpoint, I hope Threads is as a big a failure as the Metaverse, although that might violate some law of physics.

From what I can see so far, the media has completely shifted over. That goes for NFL as well. College football certainly has.

We all should have known that Zuckerberg would absolutely f*** up the best chance to launch a fully-functional Twitter alternative.
