Edmonton trades:

Jesse Puljujarvi
Leon Draisaitl
Oscar Klefbom

St. Louis trades:

Vladimir Taransenko
Kevin Shattenkirk
Conditional 2nd 2017 (if Shattenkirk doesn't resign)

The Oilers get the instant goal scoring winger needed to see what McDavid is capable of. Tarasenko can stick with Connor's speed and can finish with the best of them. Giving up Klefbom is tough, but it's still the right side on defense that needs inprovement more than anything, even with Larsson. A good breakout player will do wonders for the Oilers young speed.

The Blues fix their weak center problems and shed cap, adding a young left-handed defenseman with it to play with Pietrangelo or Parayko. The pick is a gamble with hopes that Shattenkirk finds value in a young exciting team and re-signs. They remain a contender with young talent to compliment a great defense and well rounded group of experienced players.

Oilers decline, especially now that the rumors of Shatty not being willing to sign in Edmonton have been confirmed.

My suggestion is that both Oiler and Blues fans stop making trade proposals involving Shattenkirk until AFTER Shattenkirk is extended. Oiler fans do no believe there is anyway Shattenkirk will sign in Edmonton.

You do realize that if Shattenkirk doesn't sign in Edmonton, we give up:
10+ years of Puljujarvi
8+ years of Draisaitl
7+ years of Klefbom

for
7+ years of Tarasenko
1 year of Shattenkirk
??? a less than 50% chance of a NHL caliber player (300+ NHL games)

Who in their right mind would do this? The Oilers are not a UFA landing spot and could never risk it.

BTW, haven't you heard... wingers are not worth very much in the NHL.

This is a h**l of a trade proposal, like JP + LD + Klef? 'potentials of' 1st line W, 1st/2nd line C, top pairing Dman/great #3 for "experienced" Shatter/top pairing dman/great #3, 1st line W amazing finisher and any pick between 32-62? IMO thats an OverPayment, and im a Flames fan, i'd think it'd be like LD/RNH + Klef/Sek(of these 4, one of Sek/Nuge and one of LD/Klef) + 1st(top 3 protected) for Shatter + Taresenko + 3rd(cond. of Shatter resigning or not) would be more fair than the OP Flame on

Ok ok ok. The verdict is in .

The OP put up an intelligence insulting post BUT............

A St Louis fan chimed in quick with a pre emptive NO first, so the Blues fans 'win'.

Conditional 2nd if Shattenkirk doesn't resign? How about 5 1st rounders if he doesn't resign? That's highway robbery.

This thread should be called "Minimizing McDavid"

Puljuarvi, Draisaitl, Klefbom along with Larsson are the core guys that will grow along with McDavid. We don't need stars ASAP, we'll need them during the duration of McDavid's time in Edmonton. Klef and Lars (I know is not included in OP) are on very good long-term deals and Pulju and Drai are on dirt cheap ELCs. These good contracts will be fundamental in "Maximizing McDavid".

At this point it is no from Blues perspective. Tarasenko is a sure thing to be a premiere goal scorer and Rocket Richard candidate year after year, and all that's being offered is potential.
