When it was clear Pacioretty was shopped. HF would generally say he wasn't worth the price tag because he disapeared in the playoffs. With his play so far, I think he's proving people wrong. If he continues like this will he the general HF opinion change?

No. When he was being shopped, he had earned a bad post season reputation. Having a good few games so far isn't going to suddenly change that.

Do people forget that the Sharks were 3-8-1 entering the playoffs? Don't crown the Knights yet...

Pacioretty has never had a good playoff run. He's had some ~ok ones, and some bad ones.

He's a really good player overall though. If he figures it out and goes on a strong/long run with Vegas these playoffs - that's great. But it'll take more than 3 games

He has definitely earned his playoff reputation based on many years of disappearing.

Perhaps it's the change in scenery, not being the go to guy, product of Mark Stone, small sample size,, etc.

If the Sharks could get even average goaltending or maybe just not let a goal in the first minute of every period this series would be much different.

He has been good but let's see how he does against a goalie who can stop a beach ball first.

A lot of people saying he's the product of Mark Stone now. But, why couldn't the same argument be used in the past. He had very average teamates and he was the obvious guy to focus on. He was paired with Desharnais for most of his past playoff apparences.
Since entering the league I would qualify his playoff performance as follow : 2013 - Bad, 2014 - Good, 2015 - Good, 2017 - Bad, but not as bad as the record show, 2019 - Looking very good. So, very averaged compare to what he's shown in the regular playoffs. But, not terrible either.,

He's a streaky player.

He's also not expected to be the only weapon in Vegas' arsenal which means the team doesn't fold if he isn't scoring. Probably lets him play looser.

Nobody ''chokes'' in the playoffs. It's all small sample sizes where mediocre players like Bergenheim and Pisani might have career stretches while some stars may have some tough times. Happy for him and for Vegas to be able to get a hot Pacioretty in the playoffs but still would do the trade.

There was never anything wrong with Paccioretty. He's simply not good enough to carry an offense and that's what Montreal expected him to do. Now he's got some players to work with and he's having success. It's not that surprising.

He certainly never had two players on his line as good as Stone and Stastny. Best he had was Radulov and a scrub centre.

Problem with Pax in Montreal was that he and Desharnais were responsible for carrying the load offensively. He had a midget center for most of his playoffs with the Habs, and his midget center was not hard to shut down which meant that Paccioretty was also shut down.

I'd agree with this. Stastny and Stone are great at driving the play so pressure is off Pacioretty to be that guy.
