Is it just me or are Zuccarello's former line mates Kreider and Zibanejad now struggling to continue the point streaks they had.

I understand the need to rebuild a team, but you need to have some continuity so your best players you want to keep can continue to score. If your 1st line stops producing as it should you will struggle to win matches. We can always hope the Zibanejad line will regain the chemistry they had to produce lots of goals again.

Hearing Zuccarello's latest interviews I think it's very unlikely he will be back in New York Rangers with the current management (Sather and Quinn). If he doesn't get re-signed by Dallas Stars I think he will go somewhere else as an UFA. Quite a few NHL clubs will be interested in him if he's healthy at the time.

Even with Zuccarello in a different team I think quite a few Zucc fans will follow the Rangers and hope they will become strong again after their rebuild is completed. It was Zucc's home for almost 10 years.

I actually wouldnt have minded keeping Zucc if we knew what his next contract woud look likeand it was reasonable.

This is his last shot at going for a homerun on a contract, I dont think he would have taken a team friendly contract AGAIN. Which is why I feel okay not being saddled with a 5 year plus contract on a 32 year old player next season

Ill be curious to see what his next contract is before I can totally evaluate the trade... if he resigns in Dallas and we get a first rd pick its totally worth the trade in my opinion

2nd and 1st. Dallas fans are absolutely set on resigning him. (I suppose management too)

But does HE want to? I have no clue what Zucc wants, but theres a good chance he wants to cash in on his last long term contract, and go to a real contender, Dallas is in a bit of a so-so state atm.

Well they did see 2 periods of Zucc, you should check out the GDT on the Stars board. Sounded like the messiah had landed in Dallas.

Previous poster made the good point. Zucc decides ultimately. Iirc, he had a very positive first impression in Dallas.

I didn't forget anything. All teams need vets - particularly a guy like him - in whatever stage of team building they happen to be in. Zibs and Kreider have fallen off a cliff since the trade. Coincidence?

Ofcourse Kreider and Zibs production would take a dip without Zucc...This move is to better the team long term. We arent contending this year or anytime soon. The time is to gain assets for the future, this is what a rebuild is about

Again Ive said I wouldnt mind Zucc back if hes willing to come back very reasonable price, but I feel like this is his last swing at a great contract and I dont think that fits in the the teams timeline. Hes going to be 32 next season? How long do people want to sign him for?

It`s out of our hands @Jim Ramsay - Jim Nill the GM of Dallas Stars decide what his future will look like. But it looks like it will be at least one 1st - that`s my current trade value prediction. I believe that Dallas Stars win two rounds in the playoffs, because after they won the game at Hawks the team has been really strong when Jamie Benn came back from his day to day injury, and they have won in a really impressive fashion now and two shutouts by Bishop.

He wouldn't have walked.
He didn't fit the teams plans going forward, it takes two to sign a contract, so, yes, he would have walked for nothing. He wanted 5 years, the NYR were not going to commit 5 years to a 30-something year old that would not have been here when we compete again. Stop with this, you are starting to remind me of webster. He will be fun to watch on a competing team somewhere else, while we rebuild.

Yes, Zibanejad wasn't going to continue to shoot 1000000000%.

News Flash, they actually started slowing down before the trade happened.

I don't sound anything like Webster. Stop it.

You have no idea what either camp was asking for, specifically, and you have no idea when the Rangers are going to "compete" again.

I get the side of the argument that's happy with the deal and that Zuccarello isn't part of the future of this team. I just don't agree with it.

My four year old told me this morning my hair is messy. And then added, "like Zuccarello".
