Kaskisuo cannot play a good 60 minutes, he's not a professional player.

Rosen with a nice return. 5 shots and an apple on the night. Having him on the top pair ahead of the two young Swedes is a real treat for Keefe.

Those of you who want Babcock fired and Keefe brought in better watch what they hope for. That defence the past few games has been terrible. On the positive side Rosen looked good.

Have you seen what they have been using on defense in the past few games?

Jardine and Subban are not top 6 AHL defensemen. Rubins needs to be sheltered. Oleksy has rarely played and has only been decent when he has. So essentially it's been Sandin, Liljegren and LoVerde, and even LoVerde has not been playing up to his usual standards, and Sandin/Liljegren are not going to be perfect every game. To add to that, LoVerde got hurt so we were essentially down to three or four capable defensemen by the end of the game.

The fact we are even competing in games like this against high end teams is amazing. When we have Sandin, Liljegren, Marincin, Rosen, Borgman, LoVerde, or possibly even Duszak/Oleksy (especially if LoVerde is out long term), as our top 6 in the playoffs, then I think we will see a lot better defensive efforts. Until today, half of those guys were out of the lineup either due to injuries to the Leafs (Marincin) or to themselves (Rosen, Borgman). Not to mention that an unreasonable portion of our forwards have played significant time in the ECHL this year because we are facing injuries.

To be fair he's basically been limited to 3 AHL defensemen for most of the year, and in temrs of AHL quality forwards, we were basically down to Bracco,Engvall,Timashov,Carcone, and Mueller with the Brooks injury.

Kaskisuo has been wildy inconsistent as well.

Should probably wait until he has more than half a roster before judging the coach on team defense.

Babcocks issues are centered around usage more than anything. At least Keefe plays his best players the big minutes they deserve. He's not afraid to sit a Greening or Olesky, or Jooris if it makes the team better.

Can't say the same for Babs when it comes to Brown or Marleau, or dropping Hainsey to the 3rd pair with Zaitsev when Gardiner/Dermott are back.

Usage has been fine. Maybe you could argue a few guys deserve one minute more or less than they have been getting, and I would try some different line combos which may alter some of the ice time guys have been getting, but my concern has been more with widely inconsistent everyone (even the good players) have been this year. The team just never looks like they are at 100%. The good news is that the team is just so good that it doesn't often need to play at 100% to win games in the regular season, but come playoff time, you have to bring your best effort every night if you want a chance of winning. I do not think the Leafs will end up doing that, and it will fall on Babcock for failing to bring that out of his guys if they inevitably fail... And changing personnel or line combos is not going to make the difference either.

Clear sign of a poster that doesn't watch Marlies games.

Shutdown guy who can move the puck and skate and has that kind of size to break up cycles and clear the front of the net is all we really need from him. Got enough guys who got the offensive side down.
Im sure that when Hunter drafted giants Gordeev, Rasanen, Middleton, Greenway and Mattinen he hoped that the Leafs could develop one or more of them the way LA/Tampa have with Erik Cernak. That is exactly the type of guy the Leafs need to complement Rielly, Dermott, Sandin, etc so I hope the Leafs take extra special care with Rasanen and Gordeev and tutor them patiently and effectively over the next few years.
