Probably just a minor injury they don't want him aggravating in case they end up actually trading him.

It is in the back of my mind that a trade may be close to happening and a healthy Markstrom is a valuable Markstrom. There may be something minor wrong with Markstrom and it would be smart to rest him to let him heal... especially if another team wants him and the price is close to being right.
