Simmonds was very well liked in the community of Philly.

Derek Engelland won it last year. This award has little to do with on ice performance. It's leadership in the community.

I wonder if they fleece him on the Norris and give Gio this instead. Flames players don't get enough recognition for what they do aound the city. They have multiple foundations for charity in the locker room. I think Hamonic should have been nominated before Gio if it actually mattered though.

I think it would be almost unthinkable Gio not getting the Norris. I doubt he gets this one, but it's another feather in his cap.
