At least we make it, wouldve loved to see how Ottawa would've faired against a team like Tampa. you could make 2-3 big additions this offseason and your team would still be crap.

dont throw stones when you dont even live in a house.
Bruh while you guys were missing the playoffs for a decade we were in there. Now your team finally starts making the playoffs again and you can't get out of the 1st round and you want to clown on us ?

They'd want more than 7OA. Substantially more. And that's probably where the discussions would end, considering that Debrincat will walk himself to UFA in a couple years regardless of where he ended up.

I suspect the reticence is around what DeBrincat will command in terms of a contract?

He could be gone in two seasons.

Yeah for sure but they were after the #5 pick as a priority, #7 is right there. Ottawa also has alot of younger prospects/assets. They could prob make it happen without trading a core piece.

Granted the contract situation is the issue, I imagine his agent is in Montreal (Miller's is, for example) wouldn't this be the same situation for any acquiring team? If so that would theoretically hurt the return too.

Totally bogus. It's pretty clear the Canadian media has no sources in NJ, Fitzgerald shot down pretty much every rumor about Bratt and #2 overall last night.

Look at how he lampshades his own tweet by talking about "speculation" and "seems likely." There's nothing here. He knows NJ is a small market American team with a small media footprint, TSN and Sportsnet can throw whatever they want at the Devils and use them as a foil to whatever end.

Yup.... Hall went to NJ and Stamkos signed an extension, 3 big moves over a couple of days.

Those 3 moves were all within an hour. Pretty wild.

Those moves were also after the draft had taken place. I believe it was a couple days prior to free agency.

I mean Bobby Mac tweeted there is noise about it and he is the best insider in hockey, country irrelevant.

I feel like its going to be either Philly at 5 or Columbus at 6 that gets moved for Chychrun.

Not as high on Chychrun as others around here but it would be a helluva lot better than trading the 7th for Anderson and Dvorak.

still not even a playoff team lmao

Giroux-Stutzle-Batherson
Tkachuk-Norris-Brown
Formenton-Pinto-Joseph
Kelly-Kastelic-Watson

Chabot-Chychrun
Sanderson-Zub
any 2 of Holden/Hamonic/Brannstrom/JBD/Thomson

Forsberg
Gustavsson

Maybe not yet, but there's a chance. Either way it's a step in the right direction. Quite arguably FIVE 0.7 p/g point forwards in the top 6 (there were less 100 F's in the league last year with that). Plus a solid 3rd line. The top 4 is very solid as well. Forsberg was very good last year so will see how he is this year.

Teams like the Caps, Bruins, Pens and Isles are only getting older and will be tough for them to improve next year based on age, contracts, injuries etc. I really think teams like Ottawa/NJ/Detroit are going to make a big push this year.

Again maybe not a playoff team, but you'd be surprised how much better your team can be when you replace Zaitsev, White, Del Zotto, and Tierney (all bad) with guys like Chychrun, Giroux, Sanderson and Pinto. Addition by subtraction, and then addition by addition.

The Canadian media does it with every team. The America media is guilty of this too. They all deal in conjecture and innuendo. It appears. It's trending. It's heading. They link the Rangers with every big money player and the Rangers don't have the cap space. It doesn't stop them from speculating.
