Not sure if Finnish media have noticed, but Latvian federation is daydreaming about having a team in Mestis next season. As a place for mostly local U23 talent to play. Of course, federation does not have money for it, they have to find sponsors and allegedly have only a few weeks to sort it out. Nummela just used generic phrases like 'an idea to have teams from the Baltics has been present or years', 'too early to tell whether that would be possible'.

Always tough to judge or project for defensive-type defenders but I'm curious about Jyp's Eetu Peltola (admittedly due mostly to his size).

Have looked through several sources but couldn't find much.

Despite his size it doesn't appear he ever played in Finland's junior team program.

Is he a late bloomer with further upside or has he reached his peak as a Liiga defenseman?

Have only seen his statistics but it looks like he's benefitted from the move to KooKoo.

He is now 23 but had his best season after struggling to get into the HIFK lineup.

Secondary scoring from guys like Kuusela, Tanus, Virta, Kelleher... Yet Kärpät and Ilves aren't THAT far behind on paper... Easily the best rosters Liiga teams have had in decades.

That doesn't include goalies for some reason. Rubin is missing atleast. Not the record though 96-97 had more maybe some other season aswell.

Maybe worth mentioning here that Jokerit is aiming to return to Liiga for season 2023-24. For the upcoming season their junior organizations will operate normally but there's no team in any other levels.
