The idea for this topic came to me while playing the original darksiders on PS4

now I have it on PS3 and I LOVE it, that is until I get to the black throne is where I am on my PS4

this is the 3rd time I have gotten to the black throne, this level pisses me off to the point that I feel THQ almost deserved to go out of business just for making this level

it's a shame because like I said I LOVE the rest of this game it's great and I can't wait to play darksiders 3

but the black throne can kiss my ass.

is there any levels you HATE in games you love

The Hush floor/boss fight in the binding of isaac is awful. It's such a tedious battle with little in terms of genuine difficulty beyond that fact he takes a million years to kill while continuously generating a bullet hell to navigate. Once you've got the unlocks associated with the boss, there is basically no reason to ever fight the Hush on another run again.

And act 3 in diablo 2 is also just awful until you get to lower kurast. Insanely frustrating to navigate, exceptionally repetitive, and the most annoying enemies in the game. Durance of hate and the council and Mephestio are awesome though.

The Comms tower in MGS1 where you're forced into alert then have to run up a million stairs with guys popping out in front and behind you from out of nowhere.

The final battle in Shadow of the Colossus. The part where you have to jump from his hand to his shoulder I can never get the guy to hold on right. Combine that with the game dropping to about 10 frames per second and I always have to climb all the way up that guy about 15 times before I beat him.

And I'm pretty sure I'm the only person on earth who has trouble with this, but the mission in Vice City where you have to fly around the city dropping flyers for the porn studio. I can never keep the skimmer in the air for whatever reason.

Right before the end in the original KOTOR. I hate games that put in endless enemies. It's like they said "Oh well we can't design the level to be any harder and have it make sense, lets just have endless bad guys show up that they have to fight through to make it to the end." It's a cheap cop-out. Amazing game though.

It's even worse in KOTOR 2.

The temple is just filled with guys and the rest of the building is just empty.

I actually never got through KOTOR 2. Played it for maybe 5 hours though. That sounds rough and I wouldn't have liked it.

Any level where you have to watch a cutscene every time you die. Mass effect 1 has this before every boss battle.

It's too bad because the middle 80% of the game is one of the best games ever.

It's probably worth playing - and there are some patches/fixes out there made by the community.

Might need to check it out. Thanks!

Another level I hated in a game I love was going through Blackreach in Skyrim or really any Dwemer ruins you were forced to go through. I don't know the whole steampunk feel of it all just doesn't fit well with the ES games. I get the lore of it all, just don't like those dungeons.

The stretch from Boom Bewm to Captain Flynt in Borderlands 2. Claptrap talks a lot, there are a lot of annoying enemies, and it's a long ass run if you spawn in from a fast travel. Also hate Fink's Slaughterdome.

Agree 100%.

I despise the flashback in FFVIII to the Galbadia Hotel when Laguna meets Julia.

Deathpeak in Chrono Trigger. **** that. Getting up those trees was damn near impossible.

Dankirk dungeon in Lufia II. I dunno why but that place annoyed the **** out of me.

Duggus Forest in SO3. I thought Ameena was annoying and didn't want to save her.

The rooftop battle in FFT. THAT WAS THE BIGGEST AMOUNT OF BS EVER. Depending on how the AI went in that battle, it was possible (and quite likely I might add) that the key person you have to save gets killed before you even get a turn. OMFG. I hated that. HATED it. Rafa would just run right into the middle of the roof and then Celia or Lede would just 1 shot her.

I still remember the day I finally beat that level. Superbowl Sunday of 1999. Broncos vs. Falcons. Gave it a shot during halftime and I finally won. Thats how miserable that battle was.

Agreed. Actually anything past Mom's Heart kind of fills that bill. More tedious type of challenge than anything. (Especially the harder version of Ultra Greed. **** that noise.) I love the randomness of Issac but god i hate the artificial difficulty.

As for my levels;

Super Mario World: Tubular - (as someone already mentioned.) Still haven't beaten that level clean. Always cheese it by bringing a blue Yoshi into the level.

Link to the Past: Skull Woods Dungeon - So much obnoxious backtracking having to go through the different entrances and stuff. Annoying as **** boss fight too.

Max Payne: Those stupid nightmare mazes - Just no.

Earthbound: Cave of the Past - Oh you want to just fight the final boss since you're completely good to go? Nah have this cave full of stupidly annoying enemies that can drop your entire team within seconds thanks to special move spam.

There's probably more but these came to mind.

Taris for me. It's just soooooo tedious. Once was enough and now i use mods to skip it.

In KOTOR2 my least favorite is the underground prison or whatever on Nar Shaddaa. Again, tedious as hell and with a healthy dose of ******** difficulty spikes.

The thing is you can speed through the jungle and outer city parts in Kurast pretty easily. Act II was worse because it's by far the longest Act and it all looks the same. Only interesting places there were the Palace and the Arcane Sanctuary.

That part of being chased around in the tunnels in the Batmobile by Arkham Knight was really annoying.

Also the RC mission in San Andreas, I've still never beaten it.

Why not? It's the smallest, least impressive level in game. Has by far the most tedious 100 coin star and the treasure chest star gives me heartburn.

The only good star in that level is the one where you have to get the metal/invisible caps to get into the grating under water.

Dat music though.
