Depends on price. Z will probably cost twice as much as Edmundson.
Yup probably. Zaddy wants to be here and Tre wants him. I'm mostly curious who Tre will go after for that first pairing with Riles. I'm hoping Pesce but expecting Tanev.

I think this is a good signing for the Leafs but things are still going to be tight for them next season. The cap is going up a little over 4M and they have already committed over 7M in raises to Matthews, Nylander, McMann, and Benoit.
Well, the rise of 4mil plus Kling’s money is pretty much the raises from AM, Willie, MCMann and Benoit.

Great deal. Now sign Edmundson. lol.

Really love this deal as he is a very solid no nonsense Dman.

Edmundson is currently at $3.5mm.
Zadorov is currently at $3.75mm.

If you can replace Brodie with a $3.5mm player it would help.

Maybe Brodie's game is replaced, with some growing pains, with Niemela? 2024 Brodie has warts, which are unlikely to go away, Niemela would have warts that hopefully go away with experience.

But Benoit's growth perhaps will bridge the gap between 2024-Brodie and 2024-Niemela.

I love solidifying part of that third pairing, without an obvious overpay. I also like the type of player Treliving targeted. A third pairing of Benoit and McCabe at a combined cap hit of $3.35 million is a tidy piece of business.

Morgan Rielly: $7.5 million
Brett Pesce: $6.0 million
Nikita Zadorov: $5.0 million
Timothy Liljegren: $3.75 million
Jake McCabe: $2.0 million
Simon Benoit: $1.35 million

In the world where the salary cap on this team is re-balanced some, something like the above would be a fantasric scenario, IMO.

Well done by Treliving find him and bring him in, and then to extend him at a very reasonable contract.

Well earned by Benoit to get out of dumpster fire in Anaheim and earn his keep with the opportunity here. He’s brought a lot of tangible skills we desperately needed.

Win-Win all around.

Great acquisition and re-signing by Treliving !!!

I'm surprised, and pleased, that Benoit signed for 3 years after being healthy scratched by our brain dead head coach !!!

Being from Laval, I thought Benoit might have had aspirations to play for the Habs. A 3 year contract with our Leafs proves otherwise IMHO.

I’m not great using CapFriendy, I would love to see a list of all players under contract (with dollars) and slotted in their spots vs. the next years expected cap max.

It’s pretty obvious Brodie is not returning.

Hes earned it.

Should be a mainstay with the big club the next 3 years.

Interested to see him in the playoffs.
