Now with Brodie gone for a couple of weeks, we need him to continue his Saturday performance

Benn has played beyond his contract already. I was super excited when we signed him. He's an old school hard playing D-man we need more of. Schenn was my favourite leaf when he was traded and I personally believe it's a hole that's been needing filled for a long time.

I would have loved to see this blue line with Muzzin and Benn on it. It's a tough one because I want to see Sandin get playing time, but at this point, when Brodie returns, we can't sit Benn. He's sorely needed in this lineup. I really do believe we just need to give Sandin time and he'll develop into a top 4. So we need to hang onto him.

If the Canucks continue to falter I'd like to see a trade to bring Schenn back.

Rielly Benn
Brodie Lilly
Gio Schenn (A slow pairing you could move Sandin in and out of depending on the opponent)
Sandin

Holl Traded in the schenn deal.

His Impact thus far reminds me of Muzzin.
We never had D impact like this.

Brodie and Gio are upgrades yes.

And Reilly is Offense first kinda guy, but has moments.

Holl is Bi polar… does great one minute and then sometimes goofs it up. He has been better as time goes on.

Anyways, Benn has impact…

Just when you wanna hate Dubas, he is just like the girlfriend who disappoints you, but drops to her knees and reaches for your fly.

Can’t be mad rn.

He's been great but keep in mind it's still early in the season.
Once the games start ramping up later in the season it will be harder for him to keep up.
He'll need to be spotted into the lineup then.

Some size and a guy who likes to block shots a la Gio.

Solid depth signing who might find his way into the lineup?

Call me a fossil but I like old school defensive minded defenseman. Does this mean Holl is moved for cap space? Potentially.

Is it considered bad form to quote my own post from July? Though it doesn't appear thay Holl needed to be moved for cap space.

He has worked.out as hoped. You can never have enough experienced D Men with size.

It's early in the season and last 3 teams were Pens, Vancouver
Not exactly teams that are running away with it

Good under the radar signing.

I don't think anyone expected Benn to have this much gas left in the tank.

He's stepped in nicely. Hope he can continue to fill Muzzin's void.

This is when you know things are bad.
we are celebrating how “hard” a 3rd pairing fringe NHL player is.
just shows how wimpy our roster really is (mental and physical).

We need toughness is our top 6 and top 4!!!!

No that's just your take.

I read this thread as a celebration of a player out performing expectations from when he was signed. Heck he signed for a burry-able amount how could the expectations have been?

IMO he has been very good in the games he has played I hope he continues. I think he should be good for stretches, I wouldn't expect him to play like this this for a solid stretch of 20 games without spelling him occasionally in there.

He's really filled in quite well for Brodie during his injury. Nice to see depth players step up!

Benn is good depth but I would be very worried about having to rely on him for any extended period of time. He's got fresh legs right now but that won't last.
