Season series: The Florida Panthers won three of four games against the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2014-15. Jonathan Huberdeau led Florida with two goals and two assists. Nazem Kadri led Toronto with two goals and two assists.

Maple Leafs team scope: Goalie James Reimer will make his fourth start in a row. Forward Nick Spaling is ready to return from an upper-body injury that sidelined him the past 16 games. "I think Nick is in unless something happens," coach Mike Babcock told the Maple Leafs website. Spaling was activated from injured reserve Monday and practiced on a line with center Peter Holland and left wing Joffrey Lupul at BB&T Center. Forward James van Riemsdyk (broken foot) was placed on IR; he has not played since Jan. 9 and is expected to be out until at least late February. The Maple Leafs' fathers are with them for their two games in Florida; they play the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday. Forward Brad Boyes, who played the past two seasons with Florida, will face his former teammates for the first time since signing with Toronto after a professional tryout at training camp.

Panthers team scope: Goalie Roberto Luongo will make his third start in a row. Forward Brandon Pirri, a healthy scratch for the past two games, might return to the lineup, coach Gerard Gallant told the Panthers website. Defenseman Willie Mitchell, out since Jan. 18 with an undisclosed injury, did not practice Monday. Florida became the first team in more than 25 years to defeat the Stanley Cup finalists from the previous season on consecutive nights with home wins Friday against the champion Chicago Blackhawks and Saturday against the runner-up Lightning. Gallant, however, hopes the Panthers are not looking ahead to their time away. "We've got the All-Star break coming up, but we've got to make sure we are ready to work," Gallant said.

Toronto Maple Leafs at Florida Panthers: Tuesday game preview

The Panthers have won nine of their last 10 games at home.

Maple Leafs at Panthers

BB&T Centre, Sunrise, Fla.

Puck drop: 7:30 p.m.

TV: TSN4

Radio: TSN Radio 1050

Key matchup: Aaron Ekblad vs. Leo Komarov. Since Ekblad returned to the lineup after missing four games with an upper-body injury — Florida lost all four games — the Panthers have won two straight games. He’s their top defenceman, out against opponents’ top lines. Komarov is the Leafs’ top scorer, but has only one goal in his last 14 games.

Need to know: The Panthers are 9-1-0 in their last 10 home games and are in first place in the Atlantic Division . . . Roberto Luongo has 422 career wins, one shy of Tony Esposito (423) for seventh place . . . With wins over Chicago on Friday and Tampa Bay on Saturday, the Panthers became the first team to defeat the previous season’s Stanley Cup finalists on consecutive days since the Flames did so in 1990-91 . . . Jaromir Jagr needs two assists to reach 1,100 for his career. He’d be the sixth player to get there.

Up next: Wednesday, Leafs at Lightning, 7 p.m.

Yep... Panthers are sure on a postive roll, this season.. This will probably be a tough game for us, but I'm happy that we are seeing Reimer in again... Don't have much faith in Bernier, anymore.. Never really did.., unfortunately... Hope he is packaged in a trade, soon.. and then maybe Bibeau will actually get called up to a play a game, this time..

Thanks again, for the GDT Budsfan.. Here's a good memory of a past Panthers game we excelled in.. Maybe a little Deadly-Tedly will give us some good vibes... :)

Going to be a really tough game. Barkov any time he's out there will likely neuter our offence, especially when he is out there with Ekblad. They have a really good blend of size and skill that will be hard to contain in the O-Zone, let alone winning puck battles on the forecheck. If we're going to win, we have to move the puck out of our zone better than we have lately. Gardiner has slowed down, so this has to go through Rielly now, and so does the PP. It'll definitely be an uphill battle for sure. I'm predicting a 3-1 game. Jagr scores a goal and the only Leaf goal is assisted by Rielly.

So, if the Leafs win tonight, and then win all of the remaining games, they finish the season with 115 points...Go Leafs. :thumbu:
