To me this will be a game within a game.

I'll be interested to see how the Leafs top 2 lines step up to try to counteract the Habs bottom 6 advantage. Wednesday with Julien having last change I see him trying to exploit the leafs 3rd and 4th lines. They roll 4 lines better than any team so far this year and their D and G are already team strengths.

I'll be happy with a split of these 2 games but if the Leafs can somehow get a point tomorrow - 3 points will be very welcomed.

We likely split these next 2 games ... between Weber and Edmundson they will target Matty's back again in game 1 ... why not best to hurt guy again early as it makes it easier to win both games ... Keefe will know what is coming and I would hope our new tough guy dresses ... he does not need to play unless stupid happens again which it will

Montreal Defense is a king of Cross Checks. They're gonna target the shit out of our star Players. Especially with Simmonds out.

Im expecting a Loss in this one. Hopefully they prove me wrong

Looked at the schedule for Feb 13 - 20

Montreal

Toronto
Feb 13 @montreal
Feb 15 vs Ottawa
Feb 17 vs Ottawa
Feb 18 vs Ottawa
Feb 20 vs Montreal

How did that ever get through their schedule making software? Might as well forfeit that Feb 20 game now.

Given this winning against montreal tomorrow is even more important!!!

Good to see they're not messing around with the lineup this time. These aren't the games you use to give Barabanov another chance or force 11F so Sandin can get a few minutes.

Dermott, Engvall, Petan, Boyd should be playing imo.

Montreal then play 5 games in 8 days the following week. Condensed schedule with minimum teams is going to have a lot of quirks.

It's a good measuring tape game. Dominating a weak Vancouver team kind of makes us look better than we probably are.

Maybe so but then again we have to remember that Montreal has played the Canucks 5 times for 9 points of their 18 total (yeah, they lost one in SO). Outside of that, the Habs have beaten the Oilers twice and the Sens once for most of the other 9 points.

The worrisome part is of course our injuries and the rest the Habs will have had (3 days) compared to the one day for the Leafs.

Leafs just had a 5 day break (albeit after a road trip) , I assume this is just Montreal's early season 5 day break?

Yep, the Habs do have 6 days off (that's too much), hopefully that will hurt them more than it will help them.

Does Montreal's record prove that last season was a fluke for them? Or that this division is a bit of a joke? Or both?

Montreal had a good record against other Canadian teams last year. I think they improved their team since last year. Matchups are important.
