Well this is the 4th year I have done these rankings, so I thought it would be neat to compile a list of how we have ranked our top 30 prospects over the last few years and see how they fared according to their rankings. The players are ordered according to where they have been ranked highest at any given point in the last 4 years.

 Awesome work Schenner, this is definitely something to keep going through the years

Interesting that, despite how much Biggs is debated, he has gone up in ranks since he was drafted ... The trends of our long term prospects are neat, glad to see a kid like Granberg crack the top 10 after being a longshot late rounder

I noticed the same thing with Biggs. Could be explained by the graduation of other prospects such as Kadri, Reimer, Scrivens and Gardiner.

Great work man, always a pleasure when you do these.

It's funny how Jerry D'Amigo was considered our 2nd best prospect back in 2010  Thank god times have changed. Though obviously his value was inflated at the time due to his rookie year in the NCAA and WJC performance. Then there's Marcel Mueller at 6th lol :shakehead

Schenner any way you could sort that list by ranking for 2013? And have the graduated prospects in their own table? Might be easier to read

Funny to see how much deeper our pool has gotten and the change in views of a player.

Which is said every single year

Well adding 7 new players and not many graduating does do that. I'd assume that most years are top 2 picks are capable of making the next top 10 list of ours.

In our last like 5 drafts how many became NHL players and how many stayed in the pool?

Every year it's said. It's hindsight. We'll all pump the tires of a handful of current prospects and only one or two actually become NHL players. If you go back 5 or 6 years you'll see exactly the same thing.

Thanks for this Schenn, great work!

Very like the depth from this year, let's hope I'll think the same thing in the next few years.

When D'amigo is your #2 prospect you know something's wrong. We've come a long way, hopefully it continues.

D'Amigo had just crushed the WJC and college hockey as a freshman, and left the NCAA because he was clearly ready for pro. At the time, he was arguably as a good a prospect as Kadri.

There was nothing wrong with him being #2 at the time.

2010 hurts to look at. hopefully I don't say the same about 2013 in 2016.

Well if the last The Hockey News - Future Watch - which is a compilation of NHL amateur scouts opinions used to created consolidated teams ranking is any indication of what to expect in the future then I think Leaf Nation should be nervous.

Leafs current prospect system ranked among the bottom 10 teams overall is early warning signs of concern.

When Dave Morrison Leafs director of amateur scouting is classifying Leafs former 1st round selections and top prospects in Gauthier and Biggs as potential NHL 3rd liners if everything works out you know things are looking a little bleak at present.
