Damn, did we get ahead of ourselves thinking this kid was a steal? Having an even worse season than last year despite Peterborough being significantly better.

6 goals, 44 points in 59 games, -14

just chalk it up as LeaFlandic enthusiasm, which of course always leads to LeaFlandic angst and anguish

kid's got a long way to go before any determination of near miss or bust be laid on his shoulders, he's only 7 points off of last years pace with 3 or 4 more games to play

Seems like they were looking for the next Alex DeBrincat and kind of struck out on this pick in the short term. I guess we will check in again in a couple of years.

This was never a pick that was going to reveal itself within a year.
With the way he played in the prospects tournament, and in training camp, he looked like a kid that should be dangling and playmaking smoothly around his peers in the OHL, but just didn't have the support because Peterborough was so bad last season. Definitely didn't take a step forward this season that's for sure.

Best case scenario, he's having a bad year similar to what Barzal had his last year in junior, and he blows up next year.

Worse case we used an ELC on a guy who will at least get 3 years trying to develop on the Marlies
