Keep this going guys. Let's see if we can get a full list for all birth dates from Recchi going back to the 30s.

Chris Chelios started in 83/84, I was born in '84, so it has to be him.

I think Chelios started late season, after Sarajevo Olympics. I was also born in '84 in the summer, so undoubtly it has to be a player who played in 1983-84 season or earlier. So Chelios for me.

A similar question might be how far back a single degree of separation goes. For instance, of all the players who played with or against Recchi, whose career started earliest? Before him, how far back can you trace a Chelios contemporary? etc.

To continue the timeline a bit:

Nov 1941 - Oct 1942 : Ken Mosdell
Nov 1942 - Oct 1944: Maurice Richard
Nov 1944 - Sept 1946: Ted Lindsay
Oct 1946 - Sept 1960: Gordie Howe
Oct 1960 - Dec 1964: Dave Keon
Jan 1965 - Sept 1968: Wayne Cashman
Oct 1968 - Oct 1969: Brad Park
Nov 1969 - Feb 1971: Butch Goring
Mar 1971 - Sept 1971: Gilles Meloche
Oct 1971 - Dec 1972: Guy Lafleur

If this is accurate, then Butch Goring for me

Chelios's overlapped with Brad Park, who debuted in 1968.

How's this for crazy. This three-player chain spans from 1927 - 2004 (77 years)

Mark Messier -> Gordie Howe -> Dit Clapper

It's ridiculous that Gordie Howe played against guys who suited up in the 1920's and the 2000's

Dec 82, so... I was thinking Messier, but it looks like it was Andreychuk... he must have squeezed in some games before I was born, and lasted until just after the lockout.
