Hell baby
high profile pick up by them, I didn't see this coming but I'm not all that knowledgable about the college coaching carousel. I don't see how it could hurt.

i give it one month before he either:

a) - crashes a rented lexus w/ coeds in the back seat

b) - sleeps w/ the ad's daughter

or

c) - tries to poach at least one alabama recruit

Actually he took the job because of his kids and reconciliation with his wife who is from the area. Staying on through the CFP so I guess he has the lords blessing.

This is a good spot for him to land to prove he can lead a program. I think bigger schools were nervous about hiring him because of his history. If he has some success it won't take him long to land a bigger job.

Hopefully Lane took a lot of notes during his time with Saban. Tom Herman did it at every stop he's been at.

Letting Lane do things "his way" isn't necessarily good.

He used the Caroll example of why he is going to succeed, being fired twice really makes you learn. I think he has learned a lot especially given how young he was when he was a HC.

Interesting to note he got a 5 year deal worth 4.75 million, a paycut from what he was making as Bamas OC (1.4 million).

pretty hard to imagine FAU can actually afford that. I thought the smaller schools were broke and couldn't afford to pay players

Never been a big fan of Kiffin, but had assumed that he would've gotten a gig at a power five conference school. Him going down to C-USA is just surprising.

Hey, maybe a quick way to up his appeal in a small pond? He should be able to recruit fairly well comparatively.

But again, kind of surprising.
