"I thought [the hit] was very dangerous," coach Joel Quenneville said. "[Kostka's] not bad, but he couldn't play. We'll see a little bit better assessment [on Wednesday.]

Coach Joel Quenneville said Kostka’s upper-body injury from the hit was “not bad.”

Good to hear that the team doesn't seem too concerned with it, but further assessment is apparently needed.

Minor leaguer we signed in the offseason to a one-year deal. Played 35 games for the Leafs last year, probably an injury call-up at best sort of guy. Knocked out of the first preseason game on an illegal hit.

There goes his chance to win a roster spot this preseason, but if you're going to do something that boneheaded in your first shift your first preseason game, you don't really deserve a shot.

As per Chris Kuc, Pulkkinen has an in person hearing with the NHL...so the suspension could be more than 5 games.

It's not like Pulkkinen has a reputation for these kind of hits. Seems his nerves got the better of him on first "proper" NHL game. It didn't look that bad on the video, looked like it hit Kostka more on the side actually. But he did come fast from a long way out.
