They added that new amnesty for guys making over 4.5mill so there could be some truth.

No and it would be absolutely stupid to do it at this point. Might as well use him this year and if he truly is that bad again this year buy him out with the amnesty in the off season. For a guy with a year and a half left on his contract that can be a solid shut down defender with the right coaching, it's just a waste to buy him out for no real reason.

I think it would be a mistake to buy him out right now. He's getting paid a lot of money but having a guy like that around, especially when there's no one else to spend the money on, is never a bad idea.
